Best bang for the buck: Angel Eyes?

Hi everyone,

I searched a bit but couldn't find anything truly conclusive. My question is pretty straight forward though, and as you can see in the title it has to do with the headlights. I have the adaptive xeons, but they are that ugly, not very bright, stock look. I've heard LUX makes the "best" but they aren't very bright. Which do you think, or have experience with, is the best drop in solution for the buck? I'm looking for the brightest set of white lights I can get, so any tips from your experience would be great. Thanks!

I checked out Alpine, and it seems that the consensus is either faulty products or too bright. Maybe I don't need the "brightest" solution, just the whitest. I'll check that LS1 and see how that one goes. Thanks!

I'd recommend LUX if you want something reliable, white, and easy to install.

You get what you pay for with angel eyes. My recommendation is LUX V3.

I have a set from ebay which were a fraction of the price of the Lux. They are bright, white and have had no problems with them.

Recommend Lux. Visible in the sunlight (around OEM but white) and they look stunning at dawn/overcast

Thanks for the replies so far. The verdict seems to be that LUX is the way to go. Is there a reason though, that his kit is $245 whereas other companies are half of that? What makes the LUX worth the premium?

I question whether they are worth the premium. there are a few of the cheaper brands that may be as good however finding the right one is a bit hit and miss. I am happy with the ones that I got from ebay. And at $30 you can't go wrong and they are worth a try.

I got these ones

http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/H8-Angel-...item27c05472a0

I got them from another seller however they don't appear to be selling them any more. there are a few other ebay seller selling the same 9W LED.

Here's a photo I took at night. The lights on the right are the LED and the ones on the lift are the GP Thunders. I will try to take some better photos tonight.

I'm loving my Alpine HIDs, completely visible during the daytime even in direct sunlight (more so than any LED kit) and there are no reliability issues with the V3 kit so far

Though, other people seem to mistrust the kit because of previous reliability concerns, and the install is a little more involved than a LED kit. I personally never had a problem with the brightness of the Alpine kit, though some people don't like the daytime visibility of LED kits. LUX seems to be the most visible during the day as far as LEDs go. Good luck in your search

thanks for the pictures guys, they are all very helpful. Would you say the Alpine V3s are too bright 1speedbike? it seems like a lot of people think they are way too bright.

A lot of people say that, but I don't personally know anyone that has ever returned or sold an alpine kit due to brightness. Also, speaking to Alex, out of all of the V3 kits sold, not one has had a single reliability problem and nobody has complained about brightness thus far. I've never been pulled over, never had high beams flashed at me, never been told once that they're too bright. In terms of looking at them, it's no worse than just looking at your low beams while standing in front of your car.

I made a short video for another forum member a while ago kind of demonstrating the kit, since all angel eyes look different in pictures than they do in person or in video. I originally posted it in the big angel eye comparison thread that seems to have been mysteriously deleted, so I just reuploaded it to youtube:

Ignore the fact that I was sick that day and sound congested.

Alpine or LUX. A simple bulb swap doesn't cut it.

http://www.alpinemss.com/

However, if you PM Alex@Alpine on here, I am sure you can get a better price than listed on the website. Also, I don't see an option for it on the website, but when I bought mine Alex also sold me some headlight caps pre-drilled with the necessary hole.

If you don't get this set of caps, you'll need to either drill your own, or buy a new set from the dealership and drill those (about 5 bucks per side). It's only a hole the size of a quarter, and the kit comes with rubber grommets to reseal the holes while allowing the necessary wiring through. This is what scares some people away, but honestly with the pre-drilled caps (or even without them as long as you have a way of drilling a quarter sized hole into 2 pieces of plastic), it's no harder than installing an intake, or something similar.
