New 135 Owner looking for info
I just picked up an 09 135 M-Coupe with just shy of 50000Km's from a dealer that didn't have lots of history on it other than it was a lease return. I checked out my VIN spec sheet. It seems that there was an addition of the M carbon diffuser, and what looks to be the performance exhaust. I was wondering where to look to confirm the exhaust. Additionally, I am wondering what to look for in regards to other things like other upgraded sway bars and bushings springs. I was thinking of just doing the m3 front sway bar and bushing as this is a DD.

From the look of the exhaust tips, it most likely has a performance exhaust. The M Sport Shadowline are black (at least 2011 and 2012 model years). Also, there's no exhaust flapper valve used on the PE. If you go onto eBay and search BMW
18-10-2-208-806 you'll pull up a few sellers and they have pics of the PE tips and full pics of the entire exhaust. By the way, nice looking 135. Pic taken from Stanley Park Vancouver?

Bushings appear to be a great first suspension mod (I'm currently in the works of sourcing some and installing this spring).
As for sway bar, there are some that say the sway bar should be the absolute last suspension modification and some say that it should be first. I guess the logic is that once you have your suspension dialed into almost where you want it to be, you add the sway bar for its final tweaks. I have ridden in a stock suspension 128i with a sway bar and it feels great. Really flat and holds the corner really well. In the end it's completely up to you. Also you do have the PE. It just had this nice polished tip opposed to the stock black rounded tips. Btw. Nice to have more Canadians if you are one!

Thanks for the reply's!
I love the sound of this thing. It was love at first drive! Not having driven any other 135's I don't know what "stock" is. I just figured since it was a lease return, It would be as close to stock as possible (I wouldn't have spent extra on options if I was returning it). So as I read through the forums only to find the previous owner did add some options, that left me thinking what else might he have done? Anyways, thanks for all the info. So far I have upgraded the paddles to the M3 style, and got rid of the run flats and picked up some Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3 225/40's and 245/35 as I live on the "Wet Coast" of Canada. It came with a set of Goodyear Ultra Grips on 17 for Winter as well, so with the 2 seasons we see here, I should be covered (cold wet and less wet.). So far I haven't really pushed her too much, but from my reading on the forum, It seems like the upgraded sway bar and bushing seem to be then next logical step to dial out a bit of the under steer characteristics that people here talk about and keep the ride compliant. The picture was taken in Victoria looking over the Straight to Washington and yes I am Canadian! |

I can't see it clearly, but I am guessing your car also has the performance steering wheel?

Yes, it came with the steering wheel with the shift lights and display (performance wheel) as well. I think the only option it was missing are fog lights. Which is something I could really use in the fall around here.
