Speedometer error?

I took delivery of my AW 135i on 11/2, and the car's been just about perfect. Im really loving it..

Ive noticed that the speedometer seems to be constantly reporting about 3 mph more than the local radar signs are showing.. My Valentine will start going bonkers indicating Im approaching a trap, and as I approach the trap, its sign will display 3 mph less than my speedometer is reporting.

My former car, an e36 M3 would report the same readings as the radar signs, so Im wondering, has anybody else noticed this speedo anomaly with the new 135i?

This "speedo anomaly" is present on almost all new cars.

All my BMW have read high

I've owned several BMWs and all seem to indicate about 3 mph higher than the actual speed I'm traveling. The 2008 128i seems to be the most accurate, with only reading about 2 mph in excess of what I'm actually traveling.

Hmmmm I've noticed the opposite.

My speedo is 1-2 mph lower that the radar indicates. I have yet to get pulled over for speeding.

I have stock wheels and RFTs too.

Op, we have what we have. Checkout this post though. IF it really bothers you - you could find someone to "code" your speedo to use the actual speed vs the factory's buffer'd speed value.

Also look at my "BMW Coding event" post - do a search.

Unfortunately normal. Up through about 40 mph my current 135 and former 335 both read 3 mph fast (using an aviation GPS handheld for verification). Above 40 mph then both read 4 mph fast. I have just gotten use to it.

All BMW speedos are off but your odometer will be dead on.
