Red E91 Delivery

Yesterday I took delivery of our new red E91 which replaced our beloved red E46 sports wagon (can you see the pattern here?).

We ordered the car in December without seeing another wagon or another red E90. All I can say is wow! The car is gorgeous in and out and we love it. It's my wife's car and she drove it home but I later I was able to get a test drive. I like the sport steering wheel and the steering feel in general. Also the door handle lights are pretty cool and it was a total surprise - I didn't know the car had them. And the turn signals are weird but I guess we'll get used to them.

Specs:
  • exterior color: electric red
  • interior: black leatherette and aluminum trim
  • sport package
  • cold weather package
  • steptronic
  • xenon
I posted a few pics here: Red E91 Delivery.
And the pics of our old E46 wagon are here.

Hey RedTouring - Congrats! Wow, never saw a red E91 before. Nice choice!

P.S. Welcome! You'll get used to the turn signals, they're just not mechanical. Here's a tip that recently circulated this forum - to cancel a steady turn signal, just tap the stalk in the same direction it's currently signaling. This will prevent the "I'm an idiot" back and forth signals from moving it too far the other way.

Enjoy your car!

Welcome!

Awesome color choice, that was a brave decision without seeing it in person.

That's a good looking wagon...Congratulations!!

I'd suggest getting the chrome grilles ($65 shipped and 3 minute job, got them from poster Booster)...imho it finishes the front. I am not sure if the blacklines would look good on your Electric Red e91 and I am pretty sure you have the chrome tips. Those 159s look great...

Wrt to the turn signals...its pretty easy...for the 3-blink just tap once in your desired direction before the resistance point. To cancel blinking signal (non-3-blink), I believe you'd tap on it again...btw you can customized 1-blink or 3-blink in the Profiles menu. You'll get used to it...3-blink is very handy

Hi RedTouring,

Welcome to the club,

Got my E.R today as well As you say, an E91 in this colour is gorgeous. I don't understand why the rest of the world is out of sink with us on this one!

At least you're not likely to see another E.R parked around at your neighbours place, unlike all those guys driving white/grey/silver machines.

Congrats once again

I have just ordered a E90 Japanrot -ER- and was doubting if White would be better... but after seeing your E91 I will keep my initial order! I am tired of so many dark and grey BMWs. It is a sporty car!

You say nothing about the engine -I think- Mine will be a 325i auto with Active Steering. In Spain 325i models come with chromed grills and windows surrounds.

Very good color choice and photos.

In US the Sports Wagon can have any engine as long it's a 3.0L I6 215hp
I'm still dreaming about an M3 Sports Wagon.

RedTouring, I've stumbled across your blog while combing the internet with Google, desparately searching for any scrap of info on the e91. Glad to see you have your car (she's a beauty) and that you found e90post. Another touring nut here is always welcome.

Yeah, when I'm driving the E91, the new walnut selector knob isn't the only wood you can wrap your hand around! :rocks:
