Cheap (-affordable) shipping of large items from the states?

Various vendors seem to be able to get mad deals on shipping over here for various items.. but whenever something comes up in the for sale section of these forums it's always 'service x said 'too big' service y said $700, service z said $1100'

surely there is a particular company that doesn't charge out the ass? the latest item was 2 sway bars (UUC sway barbarians in particular), somehow UUC can offer $240 odd shipping (via UPS), but the cheapest i can get was (i'm not even sure how) $350-$400 from UPS, but then i must have changed some info as it jumped up to $700ish

then i checked shipito.. came to almost $400 or so still, so no good really.

thanks for any suggestions >_<

ED: i'm guessing the vendors a la UUC get 'business rates' since they'd ship rather regularly, and it's just not possible to get even remotely close with private one off shipments?

Have you tried priceusa.com.au?

I've used them to ship snowboards and stuff from the States to here and they're pretty reasonable.

They charge only what it costs them to ship it to you.

PriceUSA is just as bad, cubic weight normal weight is something like 130lb.. the only oiption they have for such a large package is $350-$420 depending on exact measurements

no other options?

i'm actually having issues ordering a CDV now... $40-$50 shipping for an item that's literally 10cm*2cm*2cm.. and weighs all of 50 grams

what the hell. i might have to email some of them to see if they can give me a real shipping rate hah.

No need to buy a CDV if you are after a modded one. Modify it yourself bysimply popping out the restrictor from your current CDV and put it back in the clutch line. Keep the little metal restrictor in your glovebox to reinstal later on if you need to. Plenty of threads on this.

Also, I think that the days of cheap freight to Australia are over. They ( the shippers ) are onto how much less U.S goods prices are compared to Aus prices and are gleaning some extra profit from shipping charges.

Get it locally, PM Stu @BMR if he has them in stock. I bought mine off him ages ago.

+1 Once you pull it out you'll see how easy it is to modify.
