135 2011 or 2010
Hi,
Realise there may have been some similar posts. But this has a slightly different twist. Big discounts being offered on the 2010 Step's to clear the way for the DCT 2011. If you were offered exactly the same spec car for $4,500 less for the step over the DCT - would you take it ? Even at $2k difference - I would take the DCT. But $4,500 has me thinking. Thoughts ? |

Get the to do a deal at $2000 more for the DCT if you want it . Otherwise the 135i slush is no slush at all.

It is up to you. But I have a non DCT and driven a DCT Z4. Not much difference.
You get an extra gear though.

Is there a difference between the 135i DCT and the M-DCT in the M3?

I would get the DCT just for the awesome gear selector and steering wheel padles. http://www.caranddriver.com/reviews/...t_drive_review Not a bad review either on the DCT. Last edited by Zuzu; 05-18-2010 at 01:25 AM.. |

It's the same way the SMG units in the Mcars were different to those in the non-M's.

Hey Scoobs,
Let me know what sort of deal you got offered on a 2011 DCT because I have one on order due in about 4 weeks and this is what I paid: $86,000 for AW 135i/DCT/Sun Roof/Professional Nav/Carbon Mirror Caps and Carbon Boot Lip...... I have since added a couple of things but that was where the contract started so that gives you a base line. Good luck and let us know your deal. Jr |

With that incentive I would say go for it. You won't be disappointed with the step. Yes the dct shifts about 200ms quicker and has a second gear but honestly they are still both auto just one more advanced then the other. The slushbox that some people on here say to be so non sports car like have usually never driven one long enough to see the benefits of one. In the end you should test drive both yourself and then ask yourself the question again.

According to the BMW Australia website it does. If you go through the build process on the BMW Australia website, when you get to the "Options" tab, scroll right down to the bottom to the Transmission section, click on the DCT option and read the description on the right hand side.
"Includes Launch Control for maximum acceleration from standing start." The 335i with DCT definitely has Launch Control, so can't see why the 135i with DCT wouldn't. It's probably mentioned somewhere else which is easier to find, however it's the only spot I've noticed it mentioned though. |

135i DCT gets launch control... would dread to think what the negative effects of a few full on launches would be?
Would the DCT transmission take the pain more than say a few 1st gear hard accelerations on an MT car?

I had a 2002 model Alfa with selespeed - if the DCT is anything like a selespeed, it will feel way different to the slushy.
As for the slushy , ours is very good - but it aint even close our old selespeed IMHO. We got ours for $86k on road SB/CR/Sroof/Pro nav voice control/slushy. but that was with EPP. Ex stock delivery OJR555 scored a great deal on car that had to be ordered. JD |

But that said Launch Control in a non-M, may be like DCT in a non-M a slightly watered down version. As such the wear may not be as intense.
