Enjoy your car, but be careful with the sideways action. . Make sure you have plenty of room to play until you know how it behaves.

Congratulations, I know they're very different cars, but I'd be very interested in hearing your thoughts on the two cars.

A friend of mine is thinking of picking up an E60 M5, I've never been in one so can't comment, other than they sound fantastic.

Collected the car today. Out for a drive tonight.

Main difference between the M5 is that the power delivery is pretty much instant with help from the turbo's instead of having to get the car going to enjoy the power.

Obviously the size and the nimble set up of the 1M is more beneficial over the M5.

Manual box is much better than the single sequential clutch of the M5 (old tech these days)

Just need to work out how to post photos of the new family member up on here.

Will do mate. I use to ride Motor bikes and you would also use the gentle nod of the head to acknowledge fellow motor cyclist.

Due to the rarity of these cars, i think we should create a 1M acknowledgement signal.

How about a dukes of hazard attempt at horn blowing....

Your dad has great taste!!! I saw a new black m5 behind me in traffic, they look so much more aggressive in person (the new headlights look mean especially on black). Both nice cars, well done!

I got back from a quick trip to the shops this afternoon and now I'm getting a high pitch beep whenever I lock/unlock the car from the outside. It sounds a bit like an electric motor sound, and it's coming from the fuel cap/boot region. I suspect this isn't the audible locking confirmation, Would it be something broken?

Are you sure it's not the alarm activating/deactivating. . Mine does this , but has been coded for this function.

Is that the audible alarm confirmation thingy? It's definitely not that, because it's such a low volume and it's clearly coming from the fuel filler cap.

What does that sound like? My "beep" only last a split second, for about the same time as I can hear the locks actuating.

I gave the dealer a call today though, they told me it's just the lock on the fuel cap and probably just needs some lubricating... (after only 1000kms??? )

When the VO in VIC went on sale originally back in July, i flew down to VIC, test drove the car and offered him $110 on the spot. He said no way..... Low and behold it has taken him a further 3 months and now is at $110..... Could have saved himself alot of headache.

It was a great day! Good to finally meet some of you and thanks for posting the photos Ian.

Thought one of the most interesting parts of the day was driving some Eastern Creek laps in an M3 and then in a 328 . . . makes you appreciate just how good these M cars are.

Shame I missed you guys at Eastern Creek. I was there on Tues for the M Dynamic and Friday for the Intensive course.

There were 4 1Ms (3 AW+1BSM) including mine. The others aren't on the forum though.

Gotta love those hot laps!

Apology for my lousy iphone pic.
