Has the cruise control issue been fixed yet? If not, will some type of an update be released?

jb3 to cobb

my car was making nearly monthly trips to dealer, ended up with 2 third brake lights, 2 reprograms for long cranks and few limp modes (hpfp is fine they say), then finally a full on pump failure with tow and everything, seatbelt recall, stalling after the hpfp, another software update, and finally the 15k service....

at that point i could rip the jb3 in and out in 20 min, but didn't want to ever do it again. Now with the cobb when my radio crapped out and they replaced it, i never had to raise the hood to go back stock. worth it to me.

as far as drive.
1. cobb is super smooth, like a stock car but more powerful
2. jb3 had more parameters for you to fool with, maps, pedal target, etc.
3. jb3 level 3 was maybe a bit quicker overall, but had sledgehammer torque in the 3-5k range.
4. jb3 level 5 was faster for sure.
5. cold weather i've noticed the cobb pulling out lots of boost, so it actually seems faster and probably is in the warm for now.
6. cobb definitely pulls better above 5500, felt like the jb3 hit a wall by there, this car seems to need more rpm now to achieve the same acceleration (ie often would stomp it and allow to shift at 5000 or so and ramp up the speed fast, now it seems i need to use the gears a bit more to make it happen)

(my bro still has jb3 - 335, was 1/2 car behind on map3, nearly a car on map 5, side by side. Now he's even on map3 and 1/2 car or so ahead on map 5, and i've added a fmic since then)

he's had more idle issues and there's definitely a jerkiness in the 3-4k range that was more pronounced on his.

I understand the jb4 has most of th smoothness issues worked out.

To me it was worth the extra 400 bucks not to have to worry about getting into that ecu again and once advanced tunes come out the cobb 'should' make as much or more power than the piggybacks.

Clearing Codes

How do you properly clear all the codes? The "Clear code" feature, or "reset ECU"? I think my HPFP just sh1t the bed. 1 week after the first modification.

Coincidence?

It sounds like a stupid question, but I want to make sure I clear all the codes before I uninstall it. Can you use it to clear codes if its not locked to your car?

Nevermind. It clears all codes after the uninstall.

Got my AP the other day. Initial impressions are great. Drives great, does seem like the ECU interferes less with my input, but still drives smooth. Power difference is very noticeable, of course. Install was painless. Looking forward to getting some data logging in.

I have noticed a bit of high boost at low throttle angles when I stab to full throttle then back off. Boost doesn't seem to drop as fast when I back off the throttle. It adds more of that typical "turbo motor" feel where throttle angle isn't directly attached to power. It's not that much, but definitely feels different and has taken a small amount of adjustment.

Overall very happy so far. Looking forward to Streettuner and Racetuner for the consumer side. Hope Cobb follows through with that...

Are you still using your stock chargepipe/diverter valve setup?

If so this could be due to that, significant additions to boost pressure with the stock rubber pipings and valve hoses, could be causing some pressure leak or lag thru the turbos.

Just an idea, go with ER's pipe and a BOV

I think the stock tune closes the throttle more to manipulate manifold pressure, and the tune has taken some of that out to make the throttle plate more closing match accelerator pedal angle.

It's not lag. It is the back side of the operation, when throttle is removed. Boost stays even as the throttle angle is slowly closed but the stored energy in the turbo rotating assembly keeps pushing air around the partly open throttle. It makes power non linear in relation to throttle just as much as it is during situations when adding throttle. On throttle lag seems about the same.

I don't think a few extra PSI is going to manufacture leaks.

Well all that technical stuff aside, ive driven three FI cars thus far and with all of them, this one included ive always found its best to do some upgrades whenever you add any amount of boost and pressure on top of what the stock setup is, namely with a tune. Best procedure with FI cars whenever you get a tune is DV mods, intercooler, exhaust and intake upgrades. Otherwise you will not see the kind of overall performance advantages that you should see with most tunes, definately including the Cobb AP.

These tunes are made for our cares specifically and our engines moreover, so its not like the tune is fucking up ur engine/throttle whatever, its just boosting it, and in order for everything to work correctly with that added boost, other things need to be done. Common sense lets call it. If you are running that flash on an otherwise stock car, I would just expect to see some issues, not really bad ones, but enough not to notice the full advantages of the tune.

The COBB AP is currently only for USDM vehicles. However, it has been tested to work for those of you who are in Canada as well! I am an authorized COBB dealer so feel free to drop me a PM if you guys have any questions at all!
