Turn in
It is well known that the 135i suffers from excessive understeer. Taking advice from fellow members of this forum I carried out the following modifications:
1. Replaced front springs with BMW performance springs (rated at 190) $450 (including fitting cost). Kept rears at standard 350. 2. Increased front tyre size to 225/40/18 $300 3. Removed the retaining pin on the front strut mounting point for a little more negative camber. Free! 4. Fitted 10mm front spacers to increase front track by 20mm. $130 Results: Better turn in response and reduced understeer. Ride height remains the same (springs 5-10mm lower but taller tyres). Rides bumps and pot holes at least as well as before. |
