I am hard of hearing from many years of noisy work conditions.

That is the exact reason I do not think I will get the premium stereo. With my hearing loss I can not hear all the subtle things you would normally hear so I can not justify having something that I will not be able to enjoy.

I still hear the subtle little things, just 3-6dB less then the average joe. More watts means louder volumn. Especially when the windows are down.

HD does sound better than regular FM Jeff, at least based on what I've heard so far. There are a few stations in KC that broadcast the same material regularly and in HD format. The tuner aquires the analog format first and then the HD so there's a transition between them. In all cases so far it's been better than the analog.

Now if I lived in Chadron, Nebraska I might not have opted for HD. ; -)

There's a couple of things I'm not fond of with this HiFi setup. It does not display volume and it doesn't display remaining time on track for CD's or iPod. At least I haven't found where it does.

As far as volume is concerned Jeff, I think you could do some damage to your ears given the fairly tight environment and OK amplifier power in the 1. But I don't listen to a lot of continuously loud music so I may not be a representative sample in this group.

I have a bit of hearing loss, and tinnitus - I have a hole at 6KHz (could have been firecrackers or firearms that did it - don't remember ; -). But I get to a lot of musical events (unamplified, Chamber Music) and subsequently have a pretty good frame of reference for music. I played Brahms' Neue Liebeslieder Walzer this morning and it did pretty well (not excellent) on the piano and very well on the vocals using the 'Music' setting on Logic 7.

Then would you say that having the iDrive '09, which has HD radio, warrants the logic7 - ( based on your statement above - agree?)
