Got my car updated and I hate it.
Cold starts sounds alot more quiet and I don't feel like it has the same torque at low end. I like the jerky shifting and loud noise What can I do to get some of that back?. |

If you have a JB4 or Cobb does the car still feel neutered?

I had mine updated to SI B 12 09 12 and it fixed the idle/stall issue. It felt like the car re-broke in and after a month now it runs very well and a bit stymied in sport mode. My main complaint is if I dont drive it for 24hrs or more the next start the car shakes and wobbles like I'm in a massage chair at a Nails place for about 45-60sec.

I have the jb4 stage 2 and it still pulls hard but it doesn't feel the same.
Before the update any gear I was in it would pull like mad. Now I really have to have it in the right rpm range. Although the shifting is smoother and faster. Alot of traction issues when shifting into 2nd hard. |

I've got a 2012 135i with the performance engine option and DTC. We hit 38k miles and are getting similar symptoms. When idling sometimes the idle will jump up to 1,500 rpm then down to 500 two or three times as if it was rev matching. In addition after initially pulling away from a stop the car will occasionally hesitate, it will disengage the clutch and drop the revs to idle. The car just sits there for a fraction of a second regardless of throttle position. Other times the car will lurch forward when pulling up to a stop. After the third trip to the dealer, first time they said there was nothing wrong, we took their mechanic out for a ride and it misbehaved badly. The mechanic said "You know we have two other 135i s with DTCs in here with similar problems and all of them have around 40k miles" (it's a big dealership, there were over 200 cars in for service that day and they were running 3 repair shifts ). The dealer's service rep said they notified the factory service reps. He reported that the factory reps were familiar with this ongoing problem. Their estimate is that a fix specifically addressing the problem will be available in approximately 2-3 months. I have no verification of this, it's just what I was told by the San Diego BMW service rep.

I've got a 2011 135i 6mt and had some of the problems that others had. Specifically, in cooler temperatures, with a cold start, at low speed the car would sometimes stall for no reason. It happened more often when the wheel was turned.
They applied SIB 12 17 13 (which I haven't been able to find much information on) and the car seems quieter at stop lights. I haven't had a chance to really get on it yet but something just seems different. Maybe it's because I was in a 2014 328i x-drive for a week, lol.

Just had my car updated by the dealer after I complained about the car bucking when braking to a stop or backing up.
How do I check what they updated me to? no idrive here... Also, as for the update, the car all around just seems more smooth now. It also seems to pull harder at midrange. The car shifts smoother and holds gears more appropriately. This could be a side effect of clearing all the adaption settings. As others have mentioned, the car seems to be way quieter at idle, the rpms settle faster on cold starts, and the exhaust note seems a bit toned down at lower rpms. I wish I could see the actual update notes to see what the software update did! is this all placebo effect!? Before and after dynos!? |

What was the issue that made you bring it in to be updated? Mine has a definite lag in throttle response when accelerating from a stop. But the SIB doesn't mention that, so they won't do anything.

Tell them your car also stalls at slow speeds causing you to restart it.
This is also mentioned in the SIB I believe. Mine also did this typically in traffic or parking lots along with the slow speed lag. Since getting this download over a year ago it's completely fixed with the AC off but ....still slightly present with the AC on. Odd... Sport mode helps. The stalling is completely fixed which is great. There is a newer SIB out now that supposedly helps even more but I'm out of warranty now & can't remember the Sib #. The new one fixes fluctuating rpms while at idle with the AC on. A side affect is also fixing the lag too. Ck to see if your car has this symptom, mine does this since my last download. Didn't notice it b4 then. I have found You have to mention these problems specifically as stated in the SIB or they will just blow you off Last edited by Kracken; 11-04-2015 at 06:58 PM.. |

Uhg, debating if I should do this... I have the PPK but I don't want to lose performance as some have mentioned. But man that lag of the bat is pretty bad.
Also has anyone noticed when you press the DTC button, it seems to negate the effects of the sport button? I could definitely feel the throttle response taper off when pressing the DTC button.

You need SIB 12 15 14. I had the first one done and it did not fix the issue. This one did. There's a thread somewhere that has the actual bulletin. I had to print it and show my dealer who said he had not heard of it until then. It fixed my lag which was the worst part (i.e. I only stalled a few times but throttle response and fluctuating idle was always a problem). No issues at all since then.
