Roundel / Badge Questions

Have spent a couple days searching Google, forums etc. and no luck. I am looking to do one of two things:

1. Get a custom roundel for hood with my father's initials as opposed to "BMW"
2. Find chrome letters to match rear model designation to add his initials to trunk lid

I have found a number of options for different color roundel with overlays but no truly custom option at Bimmian and others. Also easy to find black, gold, red letters that match factory perfectly but chrome can only find larger or smaller, nothing that is a perfect match. Anyone have any ideas? Money is no object as father is not well and the car is his baby, want to personalize it for him but nothing flashy. Roundel would be perfect because unless you knew it was there no one would ever notice. Thanks in advance for the help.

I have never seen anything customized of that sort besides changing the colors. Your only bet would probably to go to a body shop and see if they could make it out for you the way you want it. A cheaper alternative would be to go to a sign shop and see if they could design and cut a full sticker vinyl with what you want that would fit on the stock roundel. Really don't know of any other way.

You may have better luck buying stock emblems and having them wrapped by a shop that does vinyl work.

Have you tried bimmian.com, try giving them a call they might be able to do something like this.

tpowerdinny - thanks for the info! Spoke with luftkraftfab and they are going to make me a one-off. Will modify a stock roundel, repaint it and clear coat it. Didn't seem out of their comfort zone in the slightest. Will post some photos when done, all-in including a new OEM roundel I'm looking at $150-$200 so totally reasonable as far as I am concerned.

That'll be interesting to see so please post pics!. You planning to essentially keep the roundel logo and then just swap out the letters with his initials or are you thinking something more intricate with the design/roundel itself? I may not put on mine, but my brother has a giant BMW roundel tattoo on his leg and 2 E30's, so might make for an amazing gift to either put on one of his cars or just have as a novelty item. Sounds cool, unique and like an amazing gift.

Should be done sometime in the next week or two, told them no rush since I won't have an opportunity to install until February. I am just changing the letters, although all the chrome will now be metallic silver since cannot paint letters in chrome.

@gregthegr8 - i think they can literally do whatever you want. the only difference would be sanding perfectly flat to get a blank canvas or keeping raised areas (BMW, chrome) and modifying other areas.

Will post photos asap.

Haven't seen this in person yet (still at shop) but from the photos these look pretty amazing. Will update once it's in my possession and installed, but won't be for a few months by the time I visit dad and put it on the car. Thanks again for the help.

FINALLY got these installed, they look great. Started with an OEM part so the fit wasn't an issue at all. In person honestly look better / higher quality than stock. Couldn't be happier. Thanks again for the help!

LOVED it. I just got the front, I didn't tell him we could do all of them because with trunk, wheels etc. the $ starts to add up fast and it's honestly a little aggressive for my/his taste. Everyone at the dealer thought it was the nastiest stealth mod they'd ever seen, all the guys in the maintenance dept were all over it.
