Went out last night with Suj in his C63 and my friend in his 180sx. Had some extremely close races which were only won by less than half a car length. Good times.

Funniest moment was probably on my first run when I was hammering in 4th gear and I ripped the gear shift knob right off and I was like Luckily it just stuck back on and I was at the end of run anyway so I didn't need to do anymore shifting.

The car run really well all night and I didn't have any of the strange ignition cutoff issues. I probably put it down to some kind of NLS bug as I turned off the function this time round.

Best run was a 12.718 @ 120.39mph. My short still sucks at 2.228s though. I need a lot more practice.

Nice, 120mph is moving! I managed a 12.7 at 111mph so there is a lot of room to go quicker.

hmm so Moe's run of a low 12 was due to better traction off the line and AT (you guys both had similar trap speeds?)

Thanks! Yeah I was pretty happy with the trap speed. I think my shifts are getting faster which is helping to up the mph. I was at high 119s for the other runs that night. My previous best trap speed was around 118.

Get some E85 or meth and you'll get up there!

Moe has a 6AT so it's much easier to take off the line compared to a 6MT. His shifts are also probably faster and much more consistent as well. Both of these would help reduce ETs and improve trap speeds. His car however is heavier than mine by about 100kg which would also negatively affect the trap speed. With a sub 60ft Moe should be able to break 11s pretty easily I reckon.

Last time I was out I had much better 60ft times around 2.1 and even a 2.088. If I'd gotten that 60ft with the way my car was running last night I think I would have been able to get into the lower 12s. Maybe it's due to the tyre pressures... Last time I dropped it down to 32psi whereas this time I just kept it at 38-40psi. Next time I might try to drop it down again and see how I go. I was also a bit all over the place last night though with my launches, bogging, moving off the line etc etc...

Practice...

When are you coming out Shane? I think I plan on going out in 2 weeks time as that's when my friend in the 180sx will be free.

Yeah pretty much what I had thought (AT is always best at the drags)

What tyres are you using?

Hmm Wed is a pita for me, the sunday session would be much better for me, having said that my weekends have been busy lately

I'm using Federal 595RSRs with 225 at the front and 255 at the rear. Once these are through I'll try and squeeze a 245 front and 265 rear.

Nice runs Alex! But I think I'm done for now haha As people have said you're speed is very solid so no doubt you can go quicker - but I guess that is part of having an MT car!

Well done Froop!!

Very difficult to get good 60 foots in a manual rear drive on road tyres. Maybe you could borrow some DRs? But then expect to have clutch issues.

Your engine package in an Auto would be good for easy 11s.... probably 11.7 or so.

Your tyre pressures were way too high for good 60 foot. I ran about 27psi in my WRX to get a 1.58 60 foot on KU31 road tyres. Just beware that you will lose a little trap speed with lower pressures. Best is to run 40+psi in front and 25-30 in rear. And I am not sure if you did a burnout, but a short burnout even on road tyres will clean the tyres and get the water off them. You don't need to do a long one and overheat them though.

Awesome effort and well done.

Thanks Adrian! Yeah I think next time I go out I'll drop the rear tyre pressures down a bit. I did have much better 60ft's the previous time I went out with 32psi. I'll try sub 30.

I did do a short burnout, ~4-5s or so to heat up the tyres. My tyres don't do too well in the cold and it was 9ºC that night.

I've been thinking about getting a pair of drag wheels/tyres but, yeah was worried about needing to upgrade the clutch and also I need to save up money for the M3 rear end conversion lol. Will be good to see what kind of effect the LSD has on my launches though.

I may as well start now. I have a DCT so can't do a burnout to heat the tyres.

I thought the DCTs could do a burnout. I remember seeing a thread or post around here from someone (was it Nugget?) where there were 2 different launch modes. One was the normal one, and the other was one where you just made heaps of wheelspin.

Edit: Ah I was right it was Nugget. http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showt...launch+control

Is it not possible to use the burnout LC mode and then hop onto the brakes very quickly once the clutch has dumped and your wheels are spinning?
