Who has replaced tyres on the stock rims?

I've put the stock rims back on with my old Dunlops (semi-slicks on the black rims are too noisy for the street) and after a skid pan last friday they are pretty much shot.

I have two options:

1. Put the oem run flat tyres back on (have these in the garage).

2. Get some other tyres with better comfort / grip.

I was thinking of going for 225/40/18 front and 255/35/18 rear. Ideally would like a directional design so I can swap from side to side. I was thinking Bridgestone Adrenalin but they aren't directional. I'm even tempted to go for the Maxxis Victra i-PRO after the recent Motor tyre test.

Can anyone who has changed tyres please comment using template below?

- Brand / Variant of tyre
- Front tyre size
- Reat tyre size
- Cost fitted
- Impressions regarding noise, comfort, grip etc

Thanks!

Where to get Z1? Can you get the star spec that so popular in Japan???

I am a fan of Bridgestone road tyres, although I race with Dunlop semi slicks. I like to change to Bstone RE11 when I have my 135.

http://www.potenza.jp/lineup/re11/size/18inch.html

225/40 and 255/35 is available

They are a great tyre if you need an all round (street / track) but still a bit noisy compared to a normal street tyre (MUCH more quiet than a semi slick though).

I would probably get these again but the dollar makes it too expensive now.

The RE11 do sound good (apparently a bit of a step up from RE01R so probably even better than the dunlop Z1). The only problem is where do you actually buy them from at a reasonable price?

Slight correction Jeff. The Adrenalins ARE directional ie designed to rotate in one direction only. They are also asymmetrical ie the tread pattern on the inside edge is different to the outside edge of the tyre. So you would not be able to swap them between left and right sides of the car.

Also, the Potenza RE50 are directional symmetrical, whereas the Potenza RE50A are directional assymetrical (hence the A).

I knew what I meant I just thought that asymmetrical and directional were two different things - didn't realise you could describe an asymmetrical tyre as directional aswell .

Anyway, you get my drift, I want to be able to swap the tyres from side to side to even out wear on the tyre due to camber etc.

You have to import them. I know importer that brings anything from Japan.

If you worry about ADR and insurance shit then they are not the tyre for you. RE01R is not even in Australian market line-up anyway.

I don't think Dunlop D Z1 is either.

I run the Adrenalins on my Liberty GT and must say I am impressed in their all round performance. A lot cheaper than the RE050a, seem to perform better, but at the expense of a little extra tyre noise.
