JB N55 Stage2 Sneak Peak - Harness Updated - Getting Closer to Release!!
Since there is sooo much interest in the JB Stage2 for the N55 I thought I would throw up these pics to show you guys what will be involved in updating your stage1 to stage2
Step 1: You will have received 4 new wires. Red, black, green, and brown. The wires are going to be inserted in the large DB25 AMP connector. Step 2: Remove the DB25 shell by removing the two bolts and nuts holding it together. Step 3: The DB25 has small 1-25 numbers indicating the positions. They can be difficult to photo but are easy to see with the connector apart like this. Each new wire is going to go under the rubber grommet and in to a specific hole. Double check before putting the wire in the hole as once in they don't come out without an (inexpensive) DSUB extractor tool that most won't have handy. Red power wire goes in to pin 22 Black chassis ground goes in to pin 10 Green CAN wire goes in to pin 2 Brown CAN wire goes in to pin 15 You'll notice there are many more open spaces. These are mapped to additional input/output signals for future feature expansion. Step 4: Reinstall the black DB25 cover. Here is some hardware porn Spy shot of the new Stage2 board. It has more than double the I/O of the Stage1, a full power supply, and direct solenoid control, with lots of room for new features and future expansion. |

I'll be one of the first to upgrade. Will the IC's be in sockets when on the shipped product?

Here is the current FAQ from their site re: Stage2. FAQ Can I buy the Stage2 without having first bought the Stage1? Not initially. The Stage2 will only be sold as an upgrade kit to the Stage1. How much will the Stage2 upgrade kit cost? If you bought directly from BMS or an authorized dealer the Stage2 upgrade kit will be $100 + $20 refundable core. For all others $150 + $20 refundable core. What models will the Stage2 be compatible with? Initially LHD 135/335. Then after release we will work on a special 135/335 RHD upgrade kit which will require a harness extender to place the Stage2 box in the RHD DME. Due to differences within their DME the 535, X3, and X5 are not compatible with the Stage2 and there is no ETA or timeframe for adding them. What are the menu 5 gauge configuration options for? The JB4 is defaulted to 335/535 USA mode. If you have a 135 or metric 335/535, you will pick the appropriate option to recalibrate the gauge read outs. Once selected the gauges will all center themselves at midpoint to let you visually verify if you've selected the proper mode. How do I read codes? There are two methods. The easiest method for beginners is to connect the laptop interface and use the "read codes" button as indicated in the image below. This will give a full listing along with descriptions. Alternatively for more advanced users or if a laptop isn't available you may use the in dash reading on menu 1 option 1. For additional directions click here. How does the traction assist work? If you find traction problems too severe in 1st and/or 2nd gear you can cap the maximum boost/torque achieved in those gears to aid with traction. You'll find them under user settings. A value of 10.0 in 1st and 12.0 in 2nd will limit boost to 10.0psi while in 1st gear and 12.0psi while in 2nd gear. When in 1st or 2nd gear under the boost limit you may hold down the steering wheel volume or talk button to bypass the limit while the button is held down. For example if doing a burn out at the track. What is CANflap? How do the new steering wheel controls work? Last edited by Mike@N54Tuning.com; 07-24-2011 at 06:54 PM.. |
