Adaptive headlight help

Hey, I purchased a 2008 135i convertible from a local dealer in August. It has 47k miles on it and it has the CPO warranty. A couple weeks ago I got the adaptive headlight error on my dash and my driver side headlight was not lighting up. I took it to the dealer and they said I needed to replace the light. I bought a pair of lights from a 135i off a member in the forums here. I had a local shop install the light and they claim to have it working. The light illuminates fine and high beams work but I still get the adaptive error on my dash a few seconds after I start the car. I reset the ecu and cleared codes with my access port and still have the same error. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Sounds like you need a new headlight.

I suppose you could swap the footwell modules from left to right and see IF the error changes sides. Clear and read for codes again.

Are you using any non OE Angel Eyes? Maybe pull them out and retest with OE bulbs.

Hmm what are the footwell modules? I'm sorry this is my first BMW after coming from a long line of Subaru WRX STI's. Everything on the car is OEM except for my Cobb AP.
I replaced the whole headlight with a headlight I bought from a member here and I still get the error. The dealer said the light was cracked/the adaptive motor broken and wanted $1500 for a replacement.

If it's CPO why not let the dealer fix it in the first place??

May not be covered by CPO warranty is my guess. Electrical items tend not to be.

CPO doesn't cover headlights

well it sounds to me like you dotn have a blown headlight. make them prove it is not something else and if it is inevitable then you will know and can replace the light with a new one.

Cobb reads and clears just DME codes. You can try to reset with Dcan cable all the error codes from FRM or NFRM module this can help. Also when you start the car did you tried to turn the steering fully to right and then to left this should calibrate your lights.
Good luck

Thanks, I didn't know that. I haven't tried turning the wheel like that but I notice when I start the car they go up and down and a few seconds later the light comes on.

This is usually an issue caused by installing aftermarket angel eyes (which I endured)... You're positive the previous owner didn't install aftermarket angel eyes?
