Hey all,
I'm looking at a 2012 128i with 4k miles. They price is pretty good, so I figured to contact them...etc. I found out that BMW bought the car back/lemoned, the airbag sensor was tripped and fuse box needed replaced, and owner didn't want it. This was all disclosed for me...makes sense. Autotrader didn't show anything else. Well I have a friend at a BMW store that can run VINs through their system, and this is what I got: Miles - 1,873 (8/27/12) - Airbag control module/safety electronics Software error/ Internal device fault Miles - 3,273 (10/08/12) - Roof Functions centre FZD software error/ internal device fault Miles - 3,601 (10/22/12) - Cockpit wiring harness incorrect connection/ contact And now, 12/21/12 - Rebranded title reacquired vehicle not eligible for enrollment in cpo program. All other coverages apply per buyback package retained at the western region. Disclosure dated 12/19/12 amount lemon law vehicle miles 4,276. Replaced the front/interior fuse box. Front seat cable/control unit and rewired the circuit for the tale lamp per document. So, with this issues apparent, would you still try and pursue this car? I'm trying to hunt down PO contact information to talk to him personally. Does anyone know the severity of the issues? Before it was just the fuse box, and now I found out alot more. Much appreciated in advance. Last edited by Kgolf31; 02-12-2013 at 09:39 AM.. |

Not worth it. If BMW bought it back, and they're telling you it's not eligible for CPO, then you should steer clear.

The wiring harness has a screw through it or a wire touchng metal or maybe even a cable plugged into the wrong port. Nothing a new wire harness cant fix. the only trouble is the entire interior of the car including dashboard has to come out.
