On to the next one..

Ex-335i guy here. Just got the 2010 1er last week. First manual car I've leased, gearbox feels exactly like my buddy's E46 M3, not so smooth (especially 1st to 2nd), but its a lot of fun. Hill assist is a nice feature. Its nice having a car that is not so common, especially in the NYC area. My only complaint is the crappy base stereo (coming from logic 7), but i couldn't pick since it was the only manual around here that was available. I haven't been driving it hard, except in the midtown tunnel (purely just to listen to that exhaust). Here are some i-phone pics

Space gray looks really nice on the 1. How do you like it compared to your old 335?

It will hold the brakes for 3 seconds so the car doesn't roll back if you're on a uphill road when you are at the lights or something

If the fuel in germany would as cheap as in US I would have such engine as well!

Same reason why i chose the 1 over a 3 series, not as common funny but couple people never actually knew bmw had such a car. Around where i live their were like 4 Ivory Pearl G37S just like mine, and it drove me crazy. THe `1-2 shift will smooth out once you do the CDV mod, big difference specially in spirited shifts, no more lag and much smoother shifts. Stereo is a huge downgrade compared to my old G, i miss it greatly but to me the car as a package is much better. Enjoy!

Thanks for the replies. The transition from the 335i was pretty easy. Firstly, i feel much more involved with the car and road, mostly due to the manual transmission. It feels way lighter, more nimble and agile. I had the SSTT in the 335i, which was the best $$ I ever spent. If i can access the TMAP sensor easily, i'm definitely putting it in the 1. I guess the best way to sum up the differences is that the 335i gave you more comfort, and luxury. The 135i is more fun, handles better, looks way more aggressive, and is of course, unique. I was surprised at how many people have never seen or heard of the 1 series.

dude skip the SSTT and go with a JB3/procede v4 for sure. Lightyears ahead of the sstt, way more power/smoothness as well. The 135 is every bit as moddable as the 335.
