water pump toast after 33,3xx miles....?

anyone have one go at this low of a milage? I see most guys having then kick the can at 60k miles or so... car is 2012...N55, mods in my sig...help? JUST out of warranty, was up on May 19th 2016.

suggestions? seems BS and slightly convenient to go 1 month post warranty...will BMW cover it as a courtesy?

It's not unheard of at that mileage. http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showthread.php?t=798195

Mine just left me stranded in another state at 34,700 last weekend. 2011 135i. Right in the middle of a rally across NYC, NJ, and PA too. Totally screwed up my weekend.

From what I understand Dinan also tunes the water pump to run slightly faster. In my thinking this would also make it wear slightly faster.

Just curious, what are the symptoms of a water pump failing?

It was pretty immediate for me. Was driving on the highway, started noticing reduced power, got off the highway 20min later, after about 5-10 min off the highway got an alert to turn off the car.

Mine went out on my 2010 at 30K miles. Got it serviced and switched out for free.

Waterpumps covered for abouh 8 years and 80k miles. Separate factory warranty.

It's not uncommon. The dealers should take care of you. If they don't well then you got to bring it up.

Out of curiosity. For those that have failed early at 30k. How much do you use HVAC accessories on the car? Was doing some thinking. I rarely ever use my heat or AC. I'm a windows down kind of person and my pump lasted till my current 77k where I replaced it preventatively. Just curious if that's at play at all here.

It probably has more to do with how hard you run the car before shutting it down than running or not running HVAC. And also I would think lots of short trips would also take a toll on the e-pump.

Almost never. I had to persuade the dealer to get BMW to cover 75% of it but that's as far as they would go. Probably would have covered the whole thing if I didn't have mods.
