The wind noise isn't that bad and only come once you're at about 80MPH, at least on mine. It's not really a whistle at all.

Passenger seatbelt goes limp. It won't recoil even if you pull on it more. I'll wait to see what happens after I pick it up in the states. Hopefully it will have been fixed.

2. I occasionally experience the 'lurch' forward just before a stop. I thought about taking it it to the dealer but decided it wasn't worth the hassle; evidently this is a normal thing.

3. Windshield is a 'rock-magnet'; I already have a star-shaped chip in the drivers side and because it's in my 'line-of-sight' they will not fix it; replacement only--go figure.

4. And finally ; the biggest issue I have is the constant worry of damaging my car or the looky-lou's constantly wanting to look into my windows when parked at a restaurant, grociery store, mall, gas station, starbucks, whatever! It's an awsome car--but sheeze!
I just got two rock chips repair by a company name Novus. They did a great job and one of the chips was on the driver side. I dont see why they wont fix it? It cost much less and since there isn't any windshield in the states it the only way around it.

I have one to add. I just found out today that my CD player is broken. I never realized before because I hadn't even tried to use it. I went to the dealer and after they played with it for an hour, they told me I need a new radio.

My GF said the same thing in Europe. I told her to just keep tugging on it until it worked though

I don't know if I should bring it in. It's too minor of an issue, unless water gets inside the light

Also have a slight rattle coming from passenger side...think it might be the speaker or the window switch.

Other than that, no problems (knock on wood).
I'm also hearing some kind of rattle coming from the passenger side, haven't been able to pinpoint the area where its coming from. sounds like the back though.

Check Engine light would come on after hard acceleration, stay on until car was turned off. Dealer just did a software update, which SA said took overnight, and now it seems fine. Car feels no different but it seemed boost related since only came on under load.

I also had a check engine light come on after 750kms. It cleared itself and hasn't come on since.

So far (1400 miles) my only complaint is long cranking....which ended up being the infamous fuel pump. Took care of that problem and knock on wood, but it's been perfect.

"...on my rear drivers side its seems like the paint was but on a little thin or something and you can see a dark line where there is no paint..."

Funny you should mention that: In the latest Bimmerfile, there is a video link to a nice review of how the pan, chassis, etc. is assembled, painted and then stored - and then at a later time, retrieved, assigned its buyer and built. As I watched the robots spraying in the paint shop, I had just this reaction: good general spray pattern but it sure looked like the wheel well edges got short shrift...

That was me. I had it done at several different places and one finally did it, but it took several tries. Now the key will be, does it remain aligned long-term. It's been a real PITA.

Not really. The 1 series has been out longer than the current 3-series. Its just a new body-style. You'd expect various lectrical and other known quality issues to have been resolved by now.

  1. Long cranks starting to show up on mine,..every 3rd or 4th start. Only 1100 miles on her.Looks like it's time to schedule the fuel pump replacement.
  2. IPOD Cable is sensitive to movement. Music gets scratchy when I raise and lower the armrest while it's playing.
  3. Nail in rear tire @ about 600 miles,..got it patched for $45 @ a Goodyear dealer.

Ok just drove up and back to Watkins Glen this weekend for the SCCA national race and the car is far from fine. After getting reprogrammed by the dealer, it now cranks for a long time before firing up when cold. Then it seems to run rough until warm. Finally, in 3rd gear at WOT the check engine light comes on. Hmm. It will be interesting to see what happens here...
