Post Eisenmann "SPORT" Exhaust

Just purchased the Eisenmann "SPORT" Exhaust, so I guess I am going to be "the canary in the coal mine" since no on else has purchased/installed or even heard this system. The OEM system is pretty loud straight from the box. In fact it is by far the most aggressive sounding OEM exhaust I have ever had on any previous M car I've owned before. My E90 M3 was 'Civic' quiet in comparison. My goal is that this system changes the tone without getting too loud. Regardless, the quality of the Eisenmann is superior to the OEM and it will tuck under the rear valence nicely. A few extra hp's maybe, but not expecting huge gains.

The Eisenmann "Sport" will increase sound levels over OEM system by ~3db's but should be 1/3 the volume of the "Race" system. I plan to do the Akrapovič downpipes next and then finally an ESS tune to round out the performance mods. The system should be here shortly after Christmas and on the car early January. I will update with pics/video and my evaluation at various loads and RPM's.

Would like to thank Josh, Gregg, Scott and Sean at VIVID Racing(in AZ for hooking me up: http://www.vividracing.com/catalog/e...=27&class_8=28
Of course thanks to Ilia and Nate at IND for your help as well!

This clip was recorded with an iPhone 4s after 2k mile break-in on the exhaust.

Sound Levels/Decibel Ratings
Eisenmann exhausts are available in two sound levels.

Decibel levels as compared to the OEM factory exhaust:

Sport exhaust: + 3db
Race exhaust: + 10db

Slip-on System Features
Rear muffler section with 4 x 83mm tips
Connecting Pipe
Full system weight: 35.6lbs

I will get the sport system as well, the cat-back version. What did you order? Mufler only or including the midpipes?

You should look into a midpipe as well. We have had great sound and performance results from both the Mad Dad (preferred) and Berk midpipes.

Mid-pipes > Down-pipes?

I got the axle back only. I was under the impression that the money would be better spent on down pipes. I'm not sure now....

I will probably just do a final dyno when everything is done, just to see what the car is putting down. I don't have access to a dyno to do before/after runs on every planned mod, even though that would be nice.

I usually recommend the Race if you are looking for an increase in sound. IMHO the difference between the Sport and OEM is not enough to notice.

I was told by several different sources that the tone difference is noticeable(deeper). It will be a bit louder, I know myself enough to know the Race would be too loud for me. So I take it you've heard the Sport on the 1M?

Plan on mid pipes too. These plus the dp's will maximize the power gains.

Have you installed this system? Curious as to your thoughts on the tone / volume for the sport.

+1 Based on my experience with the 135i and 1///M, you get more gains from the mids than the axle back itself. And some meaningful weight savings to be had as well, the stocker with the resonator and secondary cats is a pig.

I have the full sport system installed (mid pipe and muffler) and indeed the sound is deeper. When I start the car in the morning the house starts shaking :-)
I only have it installed for abour 500 miles, it is still getting louder. It seems to get louder up to 3'500 miles. While cruising it is quieter then stock, at least at the moment. This is because the drone is gone! I am happy with it, for sure.

It's been a long wait, but I get it in 2 days and should be on the car before the end of the weekend. I will have video clips of before/after posted as well then.

This is good news! Why anyone would want drone at cruising speeds is beyond me.

It will quite silent when you start it the first time. But don't worry, it will get louder. Also, don't be surprised if you see your exhaust smoking in the beginning. (smells as well) This is the muffler being burned-in.

fully agree, it is such a relief. The drone was really annoying me on longer trips.

Well, the exhaust is finally on the car. It was a long excruciating wait but well worth it. The exhaust sounds amazing so far. The drone at cruising speeds is gone. Some more drone is present below 2k but I don't care because I don't spend any time down that low. So I can't really say much more because I think it will change with a few hundred miles on the clock. The tips are an improvement over OEM and the body of the exhaust tucks up nicely under the rear valence unlike the OEM that is kinda an eyesore. The welds, the finish, worksmanship is incredible! I still want to meet up with someone with a Race system to do a comparison. If I continue to gush over the system you are going to start to think I have some stocks in Eisenmann or some vested interest, so I will stop.

I am going to do some video clips this week and post them here so stay tuned!

looking great Metak ! Congrats

I think the drone will be the only reason pushing me to replace the exhaust later on, other than that I think it looks and sounds fine.

We are looking forward for the Video

Nice, thx for posting. Agree that OEM=eye soar and the improvement is very well illustrated

It does look good, but for me the OEM pipes are slightly more modest ~elegant. (rather have the sound do the talking)

What is the weight comparison with OEM axle back?

PS I could never get enough of your de-lip-ed trunk pics ...

I am seriously considering this exhaust for my 1M, but the only thing that stops me is that I think the outer tips are too short and everybody will see the welding + diferent sizing of the tubing joining to the tips.
Can someone please post some pics to confirm or dismiss this issue?

Thanks!!
