Does anyone have experiences with Kumhos ku31 & Ku36?
They seem to be alot cheaper and are marketed as performance tyres. They dont seem to make them in our profile though. |

Yeah, I'm running the KU36's on my track wheels. More comfortable than the RFTs, a little noisier and stick reasonably well at the track. Very cheap at ~ $800 set of 225/40/18F & 245/35/18R.

255 seems like the widest we can with out problems. If only the kumho are made in 255/35 it would be perfect I think on stock rims. |

I think the KU31s come in 225/40 & 255/35. It's more of a road tyre though.

Has anyone tried tempe tyres for prices?
I got a quote in January for my GTR and the Kuhmo KU31 265x35x18 were $220 delivered to Perth. I haven't checked recently for other tyres but I wanted to just get those and flog the car off back then and they seemed pretty cheap.

I think I read somewhere that it's only about 15k-20k max. It's definitely not the most economical tyre by any means. However, I've been doing some research and it's an awesome performance tyre which would I think would be ideal for our Brisbane roads. I plan to go with these, I'll let you know what I think. My 2nd preference would be the Yokohama ADVAN Neova AD08. |

You may also want to consider Dunlop star spec. It is significantly cheaper in Japan than the RE11.
AD08 has a good following due to its pricing cf RE11. But my friend in Japan races with B'stone around Tsukuba.

Finally had my rears changed today to the RE-11s I got from Tirerack months ago. Car after under 10kms already feels significantly more confident at the rear end. I'll give them a few more k's but I'd say initial impressions are the car won't need the proper LSD I was seriously considering post warranty.
FYI - OEM run flats lasted over 15,000 before hitting wear strips, but were getting very slippery for the last 2000 kms.

Well sounds about the same as the run flats. I have a friend who might be starting an online business selling tyres and he is using the RE-11s. How much are you getting them landed for? |

I sent Tirerack a PM not too long ago so I should receive a quote shortly. I might be buying a few other goodies from them too

This is awesome! I just got quoted $590 each for Eagle NCTs! Was thinking of swapping to non-run flats, and this definitely makes
things much much cheaper! |

To those who ordered from tirerack...
Do tirerack ship to our door, or do we pick up from airport or somewhere else?
Also, where are the TPMS? On the wheels or on ABS sensor/speedo? Not affected by having non RFT? If I go with aftermarket wheels do I need to get the TPMS sensors too? |

As per what TimMc said. we dont use direct TPMS here in Aus ie sensor in the wheel as per USA but you use indirect ie the ABS detects a difference in rolling diameter of the wheels in comparison to the other wheels. I think thats how it work. i found that the system is very unreliable as i have had more than 5psi diff in one wheel and it still didnt pick it up.. |
