New Goodyears - what pressure?

Just ordered a set of Goodyear Eagle Asymmetric 2s in 225/40/18 and 255/35/18 what pressures do you recommend?

Most of my driving is to the office and back from North Shore (Sydney) to the city, with two people on board.

thanks

40 psi for normal driving to get the most out of your tyres.

40 seems a bit high. My car tends to be a bit bouncy at those kinds of pressures (making it "interesting" to drive spirited around any corner that isn't perfectly smooth).

I'm running around 36 front and 34 rear.

Interested to know why you are running higher pressures at the front than the rear? Did a bit of searching and it seems a lot of people run lower at the front than the back.

As i mentioned earlier i'm running 38psi all round on 235/35/19 & 255/30/19, was going to try different pressures front & rear so you have confused me a bit as to which way around is better.

Putting the tyre pressure heigher in the front is most likely to reduce the distance of bounce when your driving and hit a bump in the road and to take into account the front having more load from the weight of the engine. I found that running heigher pressure in the front (for me anyways) reduced the level of scrapping when i had my old car that was pretty low to the ground.

Currently running 38 fronts 36 rears.

You can try for yourself, but I found any more than about 36PSI COLD in the front will cause harshness and un-damped bounce at the front end of the car. IMO, softer front pressure is a help to work with the stock damping which may be also soft. If you take the car on a proper drive on the highway or country roads, the tires will get hotter and 36 cold is probably higher than ideal. On the other hand, if the pressure is too low the rims may get damaged when you hit a big pothole. Overall I would try them at 36 PSI COLD front and rear. Up to 38 is also reasonable if you are only doing city driving.

Curious thought... how often do you guys check your tyre pressures?

I know we have electronic sensors for them however they generally only warn you of low tyre pressure when it has dropped too low
