Attn - AP owners using latest beta firmware and MSD80 "I8A0S" & "I860S" MT ECUs
Hey guys-
I just spoke with Rob who is currently on way home from a testing session with a customer vehicle in Louisiana. Thanks to our early beta adopters, we have identified an issue with the newly-supported MSD80 "I8A0S" and "I860S" ECUs for Manual transmission Stage1 maps. Please note that these are the only two current ECUs affected, and only when used in MT applications. The other ECUs/vehicles supported with the recent beta are unaffected, as are any vehicles currently supported by release firmware. We have determined that these ECUs contain additional logic not present in the later MSD81 and under certain circumstances, especially when using our Stage1 93 octane mapping, the vehicles will enter a non-dangerous limp mode around 5500 RPM during wide-open throttle operation. Using our Stage1 91 octane is less likely to induce this behavior, though it may still occur. You should have no concerns about operating the vehicle, and the Stage1 maps will work as expected under 5500 RPM, though you can always use our Stage 0 (stock) mapping or simply uninstall the AccessPORT if you'd like to wait until an update is available. We have scheduled additional in-house vehicle testing time for next week and will keep you guys updated with the resolution. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience and appreciate your patience! Best regards, Lance |

Just posted in the E90 forum as well:
Alright guys, maybe someone can shine some light for me. First off, I've already sent in my ROM. I now have the latest beta firmware installed (-1203) and I can now get past the "Unsupported ROM" part, but when it comes to the ECU ID it seems to misidentify it as an automatic transmission? I have the I8A0S but in a manuel. So I tried to download the proper maps of the Cobb website and put them on the AP but when I get to the part to install, all Manuel maps are greyed out and say "Vehicle Lock" but all automatic transmissions look like they are good to go. I don't want to try and install the auto ones so hoping I'm just missing something, any ideas? I would assume that if I can get past the "Unsupported ROM", I should be able to install the proper maps. I know that Cobb is having an issue with my ECU but I can't even get a map installed to see if I'm having issues. Here are some pics of what I'm seeing. ECU ID: Maps:

I was wondering the same thing because when I tried to install, the AT maps were there already. The Manuel maps I added myself from there site. Maybe once my car is supported the Manuel maps will be there? Not sure?

haha, I just read the book and it says that the AP comes with preinstalled maps. You would have to update as new maps became available.

When your car is identified and the tool installed, it will know if you are driving a Manual or Auto and should have the right maps already on there for your car...have you reached out to the COBB guys directly?

We did, they're working on it right now. Good thing we keep getting freezing rain/snow here so i'm not too antsy to try out the extra horsepower. :P
