Dogs and the E82
Does anyone use your 1er to drive the dog to the dog park or vet? Anyone have a larger dog? How do they fit inside?

Yes, alot of us use our 1er to transport our dogs. I do almost daily.
http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1287307 I added a custom-fit black Canine Covers seat protector for the rear. The rear seat is way too small for most humans, but it's practically perfect for my border collie, Winston. This piece protects, covers everything, and is easily removable for washing. He liked my 535i, but he loves the 135i. |

He's my boy! Take him everywhere I can, he draws a crowd and loves every minute of it so I'd say he's definitely more of a ham than I hahaha

My shiba is good in the front seat, but access to the rear can be challenging for dogs (especially senior ones)

I have a couple of other vehicles that are much easier to deal with when it comes to taking the dog on short hops; a new 2016 Golf R, and a 2000 Z3M Coupe, where he fits perfectly in the small hatch trunk. |

Take out the rear seats, really just removing the bottom bench will do. It's easy and takes 30 seconds you just lift up on it and it comes out. You could carry a massive dog back there.

My dog rides in the front seat with me every day. Apparently that's bad. I got a question for you guys though. If I have a front impact will both airbags deploy even if my dog is light enough not to trigger the seatbelt warning?

It is advised that smallish children and children in car seats not sit in the front seat due to the risk of airbag injury in a collision should the airbags deploy. I'd imagine that this recommendation has some basis in fact, but I can't claim to really understand it other than the idea that front seat airbags deploy with a force that is intended to be survived by an adult, a larger passenger, but not necessarily by a kid. If the dog is not heavy enough to set off the seat belt sensor, and in effect the front passenger seat airbags are de-activated, then the risk to the dog would be the result of poor restraint within the seat coupled with whatever physical damage the car's cabin sustained from where it was impacted. I'm sure that every accident is unique in some ways, and it is hard to guess how a hypothetical event might impact any passenger, human or dog. My goal when having a dog as a passenger in my car is to prevent the dog from becoming a projectile, while at the same time restraining it enough so that it has a reasonable chance of survival should the worst happen. But it is all guesswork, in reality, and you can't really explain to fido what it is that you are doing with him in the car, and how you expect him to behave. |

You pull up on the cushioned bench, hard, until it pops out. I keep mine out 100% of the time. Works well not only for dogs but for humans too. The same carpet that's on the floor covers the seat area underneath the removable bench and it's well padded. The shape is actually more comfortable than the stock seat and bigger passengers told me it's way more comfortable than stock seats cuz they have more room.
Seriously! It even looks good since the carpet covers it all. |

Hey all just gonna thread jack for a second here, on topic still.
I HIGHLY recommend getting a pair of these seatbelts for your dog, as well as a harness if you don't have one. Use one if he/she is in the front, use two if they're in the back. DO NOT USE THEM WITH A COLLAR, it'll snap your dog's neck. Use them with a harness. https://www.amazon.com/Vastar-Adjust...seatbelt&psc=1 They are a cheap safety item that will save your dog's life if you get in even a small accident. Otherwise they're at the mercy of physics, which is not often kind to flesh.
