My kit is done today.
The amp is in the boot in front of the battery. The tweeter is very nice. The high frequency sound is much better than before. Base is not as obvious but it is there. I used to have settings of Treble 6 and base 4 but now I can put them in Treble 3 Base 2 and get better clearer sound. Very happy.

What speaker option did you have originally, Taka? Standard, Hi-Fi 10spr, or Hi-Fi 10spr with Logic7 (or whatever it is)?

Standard. The more I listen to it ... now I appreciate more of the good range it gives. I learn not to put too much base or treble from the unit now. I think this is better than the Bose unit in my Mazda RX-8 (which has 9 speakers)

Having said that they have to take the sides off, the sill of the car on bothside (plastic next to the side step plate), and wiring it to the boot, hooking up the battery. It is a big job. There is $3X0 of the labour and I think that is 3 hour (or ?3.5 hour) of job. I will go to someone who does not do dodgy job. It is not hard to make it right though. I left the car with them for a week, since I went to Central Queensland for a strict wife companion trip... (or a professional escort for my wife, while she is on a business trip) TMI I know.

He is not given you any discount that is why. RRP is about $15XX and $300 installation is ok--ish.

he replied back saying that $1600 is best he can do and that he can't match the $1395 ....
is it worth getting these or should I go to a dedicated car audio specialist and upgrade the sound system through them ? which will work out better in terms of price? |

Had a word with Westside BMW today while my car is in for a service. Umm'd and ahh'd a bit but decided to get it installed when they agreed to knock a little off the price. Will update everyone once I get the car back tomorrow afternoon.

Agreed. Sure, you could get better upgrades for the same money after market, but to get the BMW kit, maintain my standard warranty (remember I'm forever fighting rattles), and get two years warranty on the kit seems good a good deal to me.

For sure. I've had aftermarket stereos in all of my previous cars and they take up plenty of space and these days I prefer the clean OEM look. From what I understand it brings the base stereo up to spec and possibly a bit better than the 10 speaker option which I've got and I'm more than happy with how it sounds. Do you like yours so far? + 1 an aftermarket boomy sound system would only make rattles x10 worse.
