Introduction - 2008 135i Coupe
Hey folks. New to the message board, located in Newfoundland, Canada.
I had an old 1987 535i beater as my DD seven years ago or so and loved it, despite it being less than pristine. When that got too rough I got rid of it and bought my current DD, a 2008 Civic Si coupe. Since then I took a job that has me driving ~85km (50 miles) each way, part of which is on dirt roads, so my Civic was perpetually dirty, and the miles on it are quite high. I had planned to get a summer/weekend car for a while, and a deal came up recently and I impulsively bought it. Pictured below, I bought a 2008 135i, grey with red leather interior. It has the steptronic auto, and I've always been a bit of a stick-shift snob, but I figure change is as good as the rest, and the paddle "shifting" seems well done on this car. I got the car for $13000 Canadian ($10k USD) before taxes, and considering it has only 65000km (40k miles), I am pleased with the purchase. The only issue it has is that it needs the front bumper cover painted, but otherwise is immaculate (particularly so for the interior). I suspect it was owned by a lady or a senior. The car is warm and dry in my garage now and will stay there for the winter. Over the winter I'm going to learn as much as I can about the car, get some 225/255 Michelin PSS tires, have a few bucks put away for the bumper paint, and if there's any money left, try to get a JB4 or some decent downpipes. My family owns a commercial garage so I have access to lifts, etc. Any advice or suggestions to get things started on the right foot would be welcome! Cheers, Marshall |

BMW guy here with a 08 also, tho a 128. Just sold my pristine E30.
Maintenance records are critical; find the previous owner or garage and get as much info as possible, even if its just verbal. Turbos like clean oil-hopefully car has had at least 1 oil change per year. Battery and water pump are due soon if not already done (maint records!). Plugs pretty soon too. I like Bav Auto in New Hampshire for parts and DIY videos (see "blog"). Tons of good info on this site. Battery Tender over the winter. Mine is going into storage soon too. Good Luck |

I don't like greys, but with the red leather and chrome trim it somehow looks great!
I recommend saving some pennies for maintanence and some "freshen up" parts, too. Welcome on board.

Congrats. The coral on grey is my favorite combo. Great deal on it.

Nice looking car. Trying to avoid your comment about the previous owner being a 'senior.' You could have just said, "...someone who did not abuse the car."
