BMW Parts price adjustment policy?
So, about a month ago I finally gathered the funds and bought a PE at a local dealer. Got a decent discount, so all was good.
The idea was, I get it before I blow the money on useless crap AND before the exhaust is discontinued. I scheduled the install for early April and in the meantime I look at the box and its contents and count the days until winter is over. As my luck would have it, The PE is now listed at a price that is more than 25% lower. I think since yesterday. Damn. Do you think there's any point in asking the Parts Guy to try and do anything for me? As this is not a limited-time sale and the price is significantly lower... maybe they can give me a service credit or something? Don't want to come across as a penny-pinching ass, but $400 bucks, man I could use that for so many awesome trinkets. What do you say, any chance for that? If not, I will just continue feeling stupid for jumping the gun and shitty timing and keep hoping it will all go away when I hear this thing installed... |

Agree... the worst that can happen is they will say no. Then at least you tried.
Who knows, maybe they'll split the difference with you.

Just return it for the purchase price, then rebuy it. Works at Walmart.

Depends on their return policy. If it's 30 days, then they'll most likely match the price. If it's less, you may be out of luck. Also, if you're still in the return window and they won't price match, you have to be careful about calling their bluff and actually returning the item. They may slap on a restock fee.
Another alternative is to check with your credit card if you in fact used a credit card. Some credit cards have price match coverage. |

Unless their policy has changed the BMW Performance Exhaust is a special order and special orders can't be returned. At least that's how it is at my dealer. Think it says that on the invoice, but again, it can't hurt to ask. Most likely scenario is maybe a discount on labor for the install, as mentioned above.

So I guess that makes it a "special order" and thus non-returnable. Even if it was returnable, a hefty restocking fees usually apply, so there... I will have a chat with parts dept. tomorrow, not sure if they can do anything... but will try anyway. |

OP, thanks for the heads up on the price decrease. I might be going for the PPK and MPE route. I was on the fence about the PE, but this price decrease might help make my decision.
I will see if my quote comes back at an equally discounted price since I originally inquired a few weeka ago. |

The PE was previously priced between $800 and $960 for the longest time (best pricing I could find), but a few days ago it dropped into the mid $700s. I'll be ordering one shortly.

Was $1403 before... But that is in Canada, US results will vary. Anyway, just spoke with the Parts where I bought mine recently... they would not/ could not do anything for me. Granted, the 30 days return period as per their policy just lapsed. Oh well, you win some - you lose some. At the same time I got an excellent quote for the install of the above exhaust + oil & transmission fluid change from my independent shop, so in the end I am okay with the outcome. |

Using the bnwusa.com accessories link you should see a lower price than the past. For me to buy off the BMW site and have it installed at the local dealer went from ~$1,600 to $1,177.
