7th gear ratio

I find the gear ratios for gears 1 through 6 but not for 7th gear. Does anyone know what it would be? Also what is the rear gear ration? All comments are welcome.

I assume you have the DCT. The gear ratios you found are most likely for the 6 speed automatic. I don't know the other gears offhand. 7th gear is 1:1. Final drive is 2.56.

7th gear is not an overdrive gear? I haven't checked, but I find that very hard to believe... Thanks.

Edit... Checked... Yup, 1:1. That is surprising. Sure wish it was taller for better mpg on the highway.

I think you've missed the point.....the DCT cars have a much higher final drive ratio of 2.56, to match the 1:1 7th gear, compared to the 3.08 final drive of the 6MT cars with have 0.87:1 6th gear.
The mph/1000rpm for both cars in their highest gear are thus very similar....as is the mpg (DCT is actually a fraction better in this respect)

The DCT just has the benefit of closer spaced intermediate ratios with the extra cog

You're right, I did miss the point! Thank you very much for pointing out the final drive ratio, GeeRam--makes me feel a lot better and less concerned about mileage!

(Just got the 135i last week, and don't have much seat time yet ).

Loving it though -- feels so exotic (first BMW).

I have the following gear ratios which I thought were for DCT but now believe I am wrong (again). The reason I am asking is these are inputs for the "Dash Command" app, for Apple iPad, and the GoPoint OBDII monitor. Any and all assistance is appreciated.

Gear Ratio Max Spd
1 4.17 35.73
2 2.34 63.67
3 1.52 98.01
4 1.14 130.68
5 0.87 171.24
6 0.69 215.91
Rev 3.4
Final Drive: 3.46
Redline: 7000
Now for 7th
7 1

I come from the era of dual/triple/quad carbs, spinner hubcaps, fender skirts with razor blades, chopped top, lowered, frenched in lights and lead or fiberglass where door handles were. Plus I guess a little pin stripping would look good.

So I need all the help I can get.

Nope, not DCT, those are for the 6 speed Steptronic automatics fitted in the earlier N54 engined cars.

Thanks GeeRam. I guess I will have to look for the ratios again. I will not be pins tripping the her. It just looked so good on a lowered merc with luvered hood and no door handles.

DCT ratios are:-

1st - 4.78:1
2nd - 3.056:1
3rd - 2.153:1
4th - 1.678:1
5th - 1.39:1
6th - 1.203:1
7th - 1:1

Reverse - 4.454:1

The 1:1 7th with a 2.56 rear end gives 31mph/1000rpm compared to only 29.6mph/1000rpm with a 3.08 rear end for the 6MT cars, making the DCT cars slightly better for highway mpg.

GeeRam:

Thank you for that useful information.

"If your in Texas, you must be a Lonestar Roundup regular...??"

Sorry, but I do not know what the Lonestar Roundup is.

Luv London after spending some time in Edzell, Scotland.
