Passenger seat belt warning

I got in my car yesterday, started it up and the seat belt warning came up on the display with the chime. I made sure I had my belt locked in,, which it was, and proceded todrive down the road a bit further to see if it would turn off. Once I get going, it turns off and I think nothing of it. Well, I get back in the car last night and the same thing happens. I noticed this time that the passenger side airbag off light was lit up over head. Has anyone had this happen before? This doesn't seem to be listed in the recalls.

Do you have a bag or something on the seat? If it is heavy enough, the sensor will think someone is sitting on it. Or there is something wrong with the sensor.

No, the seat is empty everytime this happens. Im guessing its a bad sensor so im going to make an appointment with the dealer. The problem will be replicating the problem being that it does it at random times.

Same issue. Bad sensor get it changed while you have a warranty because they are like $300! Not fun to pay for at all... happened to my 99' 323i

@ Maxnix you didn't go see a dealer to get it replaced to be safe?

I haven't had a chance to take it in yet. Did you have to replicate the problem before they would replace it? It does it at random times on mine
