The obligatory questions are N54 or N55, manual only or DCT-7 option.
Would be nice to close out the series this way, and would mean we will not see the new body coupe and vert till summer of 13 as a '14? What about rest of the lineup of 1 series? Since we will have a 2013 what about a 128i with Turbo-4?
For those who paid 70-80k for a 1M this is not very good news, we are talking about pretty much the same engine, and maybe even with a DCT on the 135i stealing some thunder, I can hear 1M prices dropping even though it will still be a much better car overall.
I think it will be the N55 PPK with both MT and DCT available.
Dont think of this as an M car. It is not.

Were the 335is and E46 ZHP US only editions? They never came to Australia.

Well that is disconcerting then. Maybe the 135is will also be US only.

J Lau are you able to confirm it with your source?

Garage List
2016 BMW M3  [0.00]
There are Sport editions available in Carbon Black now in Europe I know and probably other areas. They came out about 3 months ago and had the blue stitching on the seats. http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showt...=sport+edition is a link to the post here. That is not available in the US. It may be they are doing the "is" editions of vehicles as US only so we get something special too.

I wish this had been announced a little earlier though. Gonna be a couple of years before I am ready to look at what is around then. Hoping it may be a new M135i or whatever they call it in Estoril Blue.

Australia doesn't get the Sport editions as far as I know. Bet we miss the 'is' edition as well.

That may mean that production does end in June for Australia and other regions who are similarly cursed by BMW.

Interesting that the Sport edition also comes with the BMW Stainless Steel Pedals (not the Performance ones). Currently the only model (US) that comes with them from the factory is the 335is.

I agree... Stage 1 PPK, different wheels, a little extra bling (pedals, seat stitching), etc. IOW, very close to a 135i, not half way between a 135i and 1M (not even close).

Wow, very interesting news. I am on the verge of ordering a 135i. Just sent e-mail to my dealer to see if he knows anything about this. Thanks for the info!

Andrew - you are incorrect. Australia does indeed get the "Sports Edition" They started production in March and my 125i (128i in USA talk) is currently on the boat and will arrive in the last week of April. I expect to pick it up mid May. Ordered in Feb.

It has the 313 performance wheels, blackline LCI tail lights, alloy pedals and a few more cosmetic differences. Oh ..... Carbon Black ...FTW!!!

My understanding is their will be a E82 replacement sometime next year.

Wow, cool. Do you know how the sport edition works with the M Sport package on the 135i? Does it simply add extra stuff?

It's pretty much just cosmetic. 313, blacklines, alloy pedals, edition badging, blue stitch on seats and trimming on carpet mats. Not a lot there to get excited about but the introduction of carbon black was what hooked me. All in all, i think the edition sport model just looks a tad more sofisticated (i added Innovations and Nav too). It would not surprise me that they will add the PPK at no extra or minimal increase soon.

Guys I am new to the forum but the 135is maybe means the sport edition, I don't live in the US and the local dealer here in Peru did the same thing with the hatchback which we also have here. It was available last year before they announced the new 1 series hatch. It included the biggest engine available on that model (3.0) and the m kit and they reduced the pricing on the complete package significantly. Just my 2 cents.

What are you talking about? 1. It would have an N55, not an N54 like the 1M. 2. It wouldn't be an M car and all the M tuning and parts that go with being an M car. 3. If you wish the 1M had DCT you're missing the point of the car.

Sounds more like someone is trying to compensate for missing out on the 1M.

lol... the insecurities on both sides of this 135i vs. 1M argument continue to amaze me.

If it is deemed a special limited run edition then it could still possibly be sold in the U.S. with the N54 engine, much like the 1 series M coupe'.

Well, I'm not sure what to make of this rumor. My dealer knows nothing about it. He claims they haven't received any such notification from BMW NA.
