OK, so it's not 1-related, but this is N55 related.

Was at the dealer a couple weeks ago getting an oil change and my SA asked about the Blackstone analysis I get (since I request a sample each time).

He lowered his voice and pointed out a guy in the waiting area that just brought in his new 535i for his *first* oil change and it had 30K on the clock.

(I later heard the SA tell the customer the tech said the oil looked "OK" so he shouldn't worry about it, but try to bring it in sooner next time).

Wow. Not good. Though i'd be willing to bet the full syn held up well enough to prevent serious failure.

Agreed. I've heard worse stories years ago when BMWs came with dino oil (E36 did), but never first hand.
