Question for fellow dct owners

Hi all, purchased my 135 last Friday , its a 2011 dct convertible with 4900 kms ex demo. I hope to be an active member here in the future.

I love the car for the most part but wanted to ask a couple questions regarding the dct.

I have noticed that when kicking back a gear the car will sit there making alot of noise (revving) but not actually go anywhere like the clutch has not engaged yet and then 1-2 secs later bang off she goes, I was wondering if this is normal or is it something I should get checked out. All other dct functionality seems to be good

I have noticed alot of talk in these forums regarding the dme software causing a some throttle lag and genuine poor performance, but I'm not sure if this is one and the same issue. I do notice that when I'm in the driveway i have to press the throttle down slightly more than I would think is necessary for it to move but i've never had a drive by wire throttle system before.

if anyone could shed some light on the subject id be very appreciative.

thanks

Rob

My 2012 with DCT has alot of hesitation and high revs without the car speeding up. Last week I purchased the PPK. This has not only increased speed and torque but it resolved all hesitation and high revs.

I have never driven the 135i model so I can't compare the both, but in regards to the vehicle itself, it is a monster. It is so much fun to drive....i've definitely converted to BMW.

I used to have tons of headaches with throttle lag. Got a software update a couple months ago and it completely resolved what I was living with and complaining about for over a year. My issue seems to be a little different than yours. If I was rolling through a stop sign or pulling out into a street, but rolling very slowly, I'd get a terrible throttle lag with in 1st or second gear. For a solid second or two, no revving, no motor response whatsoever. Now the car is very crisp and predictable. Absolutely loving it. You might check with your dealer and make sure you have the most up to date software.

Mine did too when I bought PPK last year but gradually it came back. I suspect that I need to reset the driver learning thingy. I asked my dealer to do that. As usual, very friendly and very useless. I love driving this car but the quirky electronics make me nuts at times.

I find that if you take off the limited slip it changes the shift points and reduces lag. I have driven both a 2011 135i and a 2013 is.

ParkNuts,
Can you describe specifically what the software update is, i.e. what version number? I've been complaining about this too but the dealer has said that there's no issues, which is BS. I'd like to go tell them what SW version you're using and see if I have the same. Thanks

I called my dealer and they have booked the car in to check the lag issue, It would be nice to find out what SW version people have received which fixed their issue so then I can have some ammo to go to the dealer with , thanks for all the replies so far
