Le Mans , is definitely the lightest blue, it has a little purple in it if I saw right. Montego is very dark. Deep sea is in between but on the darker side.

That's deep sea blue, my car. It's freshly waxed, hard to see the color with all that shine

Montego is the lightest blue of the three. LeMans is very similar though. I have pictures of my car right next to a Montego 135i, I just have to find it and resize it.

What about Blue Water metallic - or would you consider that a variety of silver and not blue?

I think Blue Water Metallic straddles the fence between silver and blue. Not a bad color IMO. Though, if I hadn't ordered BSM, LeMans was the next choice.

Montegos definitely the lightest and brightest blue of the 3 colors. I did park my montego blue car next to a le mans one and it was really hard to tell the difference. I don't know why BMW offers two colors that are so close together. I wish they offered estoril blue on the 1 as that is even lighter than montego and is my favorite BMW blue of all time!

So to avoid the purple hues in LeMans, I would have to get Montego...right?

NOOP!

LeMans Blue is kind of dull flat hue of blue. To my eye... it really pops under artificial lights more. In the sunlight it looks flat blue to me.

Monetgo Blue is a bright blue in sunlight. At night or cloudy days it takes on a purple-ish hue.

It is hard to tell the difference between LeMans and Montego Blue - even when parked side by side. Its only at dusk or with artificial lights... that you can detect which is which.

The SeaBlue is a dark blue. At night it almost looks like a black color car.

The reason why BMW offers two blues (LeMans and Montego) is bc BMW's M-cars have always been made in that LeMans blue color. At least for the last 15 years (back to e36 cars) or so. This is why you can only order LeMans blue when you option the 135i with the M-sport stuff. This is the way BMW wants the car sold.

The car on the RIGHT is Montego Blue(tag#WU-US-313)...
The car on the LEFT (Cabio WU-US-1034))is LeMans Blue...

Here is a pic of LeMans blue 2dr Hatch. You can see what I mean by how the LeMans Blue really "pops" under indoor lights!

Why do they offer 3 blues so close in color? I wish they still made Monaco blue!

+1

Monaco was a sweet color. I get that LeMans is an ///M color, but seriously, Montego is quite close, and Deep Blue Sea (is that the right name?) is not that far off.

Lemans and Montego are very close, Montego is a bit brighter. Deep Sea is fairly dark, IMHO closer to Monaco that Montego.

I love LeMans blue, looks great on the 1-. Almost ordered my M5 in it, but decided to go more under the radar and chose carbon black. Have a thing for blue colors ;-o)
