According to the manual, you're not to let the engine warm up. You drive it at a moderate rate to let it get to its proper operating temperature. Ref: page 98, owner's manual.

Yes. By the book. Engine has to last. Worth a few minutes.

My garage is at the bottom of my driveway that has a 15% grade. To avoid excessive load on a cold engine, I always let it run for about 1 minute.
If I started from flat it would be per the owners manual.

I realize that this may generate some scoffing, but if you have ever listened to "Car Talk" on NPR....... Tom and Ray say that letting the car warm up before driving serves no useful purpose for the engine and it wastes gas. Driving at reduced speed for the first few minutes is the most effective way to "warm up" the engine.

I start the engine then put my seat belt on put car in gear and go. The 5 to 10 seconds it takes to put seatbelt on and put car in gear is enough to get the oil moving which is all you need before drivng off at a moderate pace.

I let it run for 1-2min before setting off, then take it easy and observe the oil temps.

Okay. Got me... Dealership service department recommendation. Assuming cold engine sitting overnight, I was told: 30-60 seconds in warm weather; 2 minutes in cold (40F or lower).

Actually, in winter here sometimes I *have* let it warm up as if it is below 15 degrees F outside and thus almost that cold inside the car, it is too cold to grip the steering wheel and adequately warm enough gloves would be too think to allow enough dexterity to drive. I have no choice but to let the engine idle for a few moments.

Yup. And with a garaged car, warm-up happens pretty darn quickly.

I start up, put seat belt on and drive off. I then keep below 2000RPM for a couple of mins, then max 3000 RPM till about 5 mins, then max 4500RPM up to about 10 mins. I do not use full throttle or revs till at least 100 dergees on the oil temp gauge.

I do as many here; I just start the car, put on the seat belt and drive off. My cars sleep in the garage so the temp is warm when I start the car.

Start him up, allow RPM to drop below a grand, drive away, sedately go about your business until operating temp of 240ish is achieved, at that point you are on your own, all is well on Earth.

When I was Germany back in the late eighties, it was against the law to let your car sit there and warm up more than 30 second. Some area it was pushed hard and some area no one really care if you sat there all day.
