My husband drives the convertible, and I don't think he thinks it's girly. Maybe a white vert looks more feminine than a darker colored one, I don't know. But who cares, a vert of any color is way too much fun to pass up!

If it weren't kind of a girly car, this thread would not exist.

Thanks for your opinion guys. I mean ive heard my black 335 sedan was girly so either everyone is jealous or everyone has thier own opinion. I think the white looks classy and the dealer does have a black one but is missing the Navi and harmon kardon system which i really love both and i mean come on a 2012 135 vert with DCT for less than 500 a month is a pretty good deal. That DCT tranny is orgasmic! once i put stage 2 with top down mmmm and most of you are right, it is what you love! I decided to sell my car insread of trading it in since i can def make a few more K doing it that way so if it sells it sells but think i will get it if i sell my car soon bc I just had a blast driving it!

Seriously? In my experience, the only ones calling verts "girly" are the ones who've never been man enough to own one.
Probably not "manly" enough to track regularly, but nothing beats top-down motoring if you really enjoy the open road.
As far as getting a white car? I leave that to my wife. She loves 'em, but it's not my thing. That said...get what you like!

I don't know man, judging from your video here, you do sound pretty girly. Therefore that white 135 vert will suit you rather well.

I don't see what the big deal is... girly car = "How 'bout a ride"="Sure! Hop in".... I for one am proud of what my uh, member has done in its 54 years of existence and I have no insecurities as to its size, durability, or serviceability. That's why the moniker 'chick car' does not give me shrinkage.
I'd rather have a random cool chick tell me 'nice car' than some dude... even if it's one of y'all!

Why do the girls get all the fun, topless, RWD, short wheel base, 2 door sports cars that can not only go straight, but left and right?

It seems to me that men can not like anything women like.

When I hear the girls' car comment, I just want to tell that person their insecurity is showing.

No one would mistake me for a girl and I lOVE the 135i Msport vert.
I'm still considering it, as my 135i coupe lease is up soon.

This whole "girly car" business is really silly, and shows insecurity.
It's created by certain males who have a need to give gender to that which they wouldn't want. They feel a need to pronounce their male-ness, and believe that what they like is masculine, and the things they don't like must surely be "girly". I ain't got time for such nonsense.

Revel in your masculinity by getting the car YOU want, and let the sissy boys who won't drive a vert go merely along with their opinion.

We have the 09 Vert, Blue Water and Taupe, great car. Bought it for my wife as it was her choice, and I admit I love driving it when she lets me. Former Marine, old and Ugly, and no one has ever said girly. The Car is a lot more fun with the PPK1 and nice weather!

Would you guys consider this a girly car? MSRP for it is 52K and they got it around 43K with lease payments of $496 a month close to what i pay for my 335. They are giving me 20K for my 335i sedan which has 53K miles on it, every option, CPO warranty, tire and wheel pkg, etc. Guys think its a good deal?
That's an excellent discount.
But, the monthly payment seems kinda high to me.
I just configured a 2012 135i Msport with an MSRP of $50,970.
Selling price around $47,000, which is a good bit more than the price they're giving you.
Using current lease rates, .00190 money factor, 65% for 10K/yr, 7% sales tax only on the monthly payment, and all other fees paid up front, $0 down, monthly is $575.

In my state we don't pay sales tax on the selling price up front, we pay only on the monthly payment.
In states where you have to pay sales tax on the whole selling amount, most people roll that tax into the lease.
Is that what you did?

Also, the only way to know if the lease is good, please give your lease
MF-money factor, and residual.
Right now BMW is .00190 for 2012 1's, and 65% res for 10K,
64% fro 12K, 62% for 15K.
What numbers are you using?

Don't forget, you can put down multiple deposits to bring the MF down.
At .0019, the interest rate is high, it's 4.56%.
Each extra deposit brings the MF down by .00007. You can do a max of 7 deposits to bring the MF down by .00049.
Then the MF is .00141.
In my example, the monthly falls to $533 per month.
The savings over 3 years is pretty good. You'd have to do better than a 10% return on investment to use that money for something else.
In my case, my extra deposits would be about $3800. But, that money is just part of my savings gaining only about 1%. With multiple deposits I actually gain more money by saving on the monthly.
How much?
.0019 is $575 per month x 36 = $20,700
.00141 $533 per month x 36 = $19,188
20700 - 19188 = $1512 save/gained over 36 months.

I configured a 135i vert Msport to around $52,120.
Let's use the selling price of $43,000, per your offer.
36 months, 12K miles per/yr, MF .00190, 64% residual.
I'll use my states 7% tax only on the monthly payment.
Monthly payment would be $441.85!
That's a screaming deal for a 135i Msport! Heck, I'd take that if my dealer had it.

Your $496 monthly sounds high to me given such a great discount.
The monthly for 15K miles per year, puts the residual at 62%.
Using that figure the monthly would be $470.73, still less that what they quoted.

I suggest that you do NOT roll anything into your lease, as the interest rate is too high. Even with multiple deposits the interest rate is 3.38%.
Pay any taxes, acquisition fee if there is one, doc fee, etc... up front.
That way you're not paying interest on taxes or fees. And, it keeps the lease much cleaner. Given the rates BMW is offering, you should be able to get 12K per year for about $442 per month on a VERY sweet ride.
Even for 15K per year your monthly should be about $471.

If you have very good to great credit you should be able to get the lease numbers I gave you, easily. Demand them, don't let them if you have excellent credit rating.

If you want the website for the lease info PM me and I'll gladly give it to you, and if your dealer asks you can show it to them.

Happy shopping for your "girly" vert with 300hp/300lb ft of power.

This pretty much sums it up, in my opinion. If you're second guessing yourself, no amount of outside assurance can really dispel the subconscious notions you've made about 'verts :]

Its your money and car! Just make sure you aren't just trying to convince yourself that its what you want, because that leads to regrets later, more often than not!

I was going to come in here and say only if it's white... Well honest opinion is yeah, that definitely a chick car, but w/ some wheels and a little drop it could be ok. I jokingly call my car girly all the time as for the most part it seems only trophy wives drive 1'ers in LA (they're always verts).

I drive an all blk 135i vert. Honestly who cares what others think. I love this car. It feels and drives incredibly well. Most of the time the people who think it's girlie are guys who have no clue about the car. They see it as the entry level Bimmer and because of it's "sporting" size they think it's girlie. Then you hit the push start button and rev the engine a little and their mouth drops every time. This is a great car. Enjoy it.

I am not made insecure by "girly" comments and my 1 vert is a 128i. I've never heard it in person, only in these on-line forums. It seems that the people that worry about this probably have an issue. Your car should not determine your man-hood. How big parts of your body are should not either. Nobody that knows me would mistake my sex regardless of what I choose to drive. The ladies that have ridden in it or offered their opinion all liked it.

I drive what I like. If my car would make you insecure, then get something else.

So that is basically my car and I will admit to on occasion feeling a little self conscious about a 'girly car' perception. The other 99% of the time it doesn't cross my mind. There really isn't a better option I could think of than a 135i vert (white or not) in the Carolinas if you need a semi functional backseat for less than $50k. Plus my wife likes it, which is always a good thing. Oh and black or gunmetal wheels are definitelty in my future.
