In a way, do you really care what some number says about model year when you're getting a car that will occupy almost every waking moment of your life from here to delivery, and thereafter?
If you're wired up funny and do, BMW's model year clicks over at end August, so it reads like you'll have an MY09 car. |

Based on your order date and estimated delivery date I would say that you may well have missed an August build month. I ordered my car 1st week of July but the dealer had already placed his July order so mine is an August build with an October delivery. Dealer confirmed mine will be an MY09
If the same applies in your case it will be a September build and an MY10 car. |

thnks "king size". I just heard back from the dealer and he said it was a September build and a MY09??
But he also said that "this might change between now and production of your vehicle but we are not aware of anything" So i guess i'll just have to wait and see??

It's going to depend on BMW's allocation for August builds.
Australia only get a certain allocation of builds for a month and if all those are taken up, then yours falls into the next month (does not matter when you ordered it) so it's a maybe to a MY09 or probably MY10 if it's September build. |

As others have said, whether it's an MY09 or an MY10 is completely dependant on the build month.
I have always understood that an August build will be the earlier MY (MY09 in this case), and a Sept build will be the next MY (MY10 in this case). In the past, I've managed the timing of orders to ensure that it's the following MY, just in case they decide to make a few tweaks to the configration or features. Not that it matters much, but when you go to sell it, it'll be sold as the year on the compliance plate. But BM's are often advertised as being a particular MY - as in "2009 (MY2010)". |

Changes can vary. One of the things that changed last year was the new spec iDrive and here in NZ Bluetooth became standard (althought that may have only happened in March - not sure).
Looking at the MY10 changes that were announced in the USA and Canada they appear pretty nominal - change of location of the seat heating buttons and a couple of price changes/changes to what options came with what car. Plus I think the MY10 cars will get the new (larger) wing mirrors. I haven't seen anything announced for Aus/NZ yet, but I was happy to go with an MY09 as to me it was pretty perfect so applied the 'better the devil you know..." principle, as sometimes the spec changes aren't always for the better. The new mirror design for eg. has come in for a lot of stick on babybmw. As i made a call to go with an MY09 i'm not too interested in what MY10 will bring. Gut feel is that there won't be any major changes |
