Depending on who you talk to, SB is really Central Cali. You've still got another 1.5 hours to get into where all the SoCal E90s are.
UCSB was the BEST 4 year vacation I ever had.

If you're coming down to South Bay (Los Angeles), then there's a huge E90 meet tonight in Torrance. Yeah, I know... you said tomorrow.

You have good tastes. The seasoned fries at Firestones are unbeatable. SLO is a quaint little town, however.

Here's the link with all the info:

http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/sho...03#post1476103

So, that's 9:00PM in the parking lot of Home Depot and In-N-Out at the corner of Crenshaw and Lomita Blvd (in case you don't want to click on the link).

*By the way, the meet is for E46 owners, but still would be good to see fellow bimmer owners.

I'm going to try and be there. I'll be wearing my L.A. Dodgers hat, asian dude, probably walking around with my gf.

Hope to see you all there.

Man, that's about a half mile from my office.

I will try to make it there. If any of you see some half-Korean guy driving a Green Ford Explorer with a top carrier on it, that would be me.

So how did this event turn out? I know, I was the one promoting, but I didn't make it. No one would go with me.

Did anyone take pictures?

HEY GUYS! I'm back. I tried to go to places you guys recommended.. like I wanted to stop in SLO to looik at the school + go to the food places ward recommended but my friends didn't want to stop. however, SB was beauuuutiifulllll.

Everytime I go down towards southern california, i fall in love. I'm truly a so. cal kinda girl. We stopped her both hermosa (myy homee <33) and santa barbara to check out mount st. marys college + ucsb and SBCC. SBCC is by FAR the most beautiful community college i have everr seen. UCSB is really great too! there was this fishh pond area near the quad and they were hungryy so i fed them cherrios. (that's all i had in my purse) haha. shopping in SB is also really nice! i went to MONTECITO (sp?) and did a lot of shopping there and also went to Butterfly beach. way beautiful! i also went to this opther beach where there were loads and loads of volleyball nets set up. i've never seen so many beautiful people in my life.

I'M SOOO EXCITED FOR COLLEGE. I really have my heart set on UCSB or UCSD. eeh beautifulllll i love it

oh yaa and my friends and i looked at apartments down in SB. my friend lives in this village area "the alamo" ?? such a funn atmosphere.

those are both beautiful places, and great party towns

not sure how they are academically, but I wouldn't mind spending a few years in either places.

If it's not too late CP SLO is a great school, small towny (moreso than santa barbara) but the high end stores are coming in at a rapid pace!

sounds like you've got a winner with either of your choices!!

SLO has the added benefit of wine tasting. UCSB is an excellent school for engineering and marine biology. If you can get into one of those dorms that overlooks the ocean, that is great!! You can't afford oceanfront property like that anywhere else in SB. And I saw a couple of weekends ago that they added one or two new dorms there. Don't worry, there is plenty to do in the dorms, and you want to be able to get AWAY from IV when Halloween comes around. I feel like I've been to Mardi Gras after a few Halloween's on DP.

Did you like it at UCSB? My friends live really close to the beach right next to SBCC. They live off of Cabrillo I think, and in the Alamos and they pay liek 1950 a month for a 3 bedroom 1 bath apartment. I guess that's not that bad. It's definitely way beautiful. Like, when people think of beaches in California, they see PALM TREES and people roller blading etc. That's totally what SB is.

The beaches I go to near San Jose do NOT have palm trees and teh sky is always cloudy. Kind of depressing.

Not to take away from UCSB, but you said you're also looking into UCSD? That is also a great school, academically as well as socially. SD is definitely a larger city, so take your pick... large city or small city feel. Plus there's always clubbing in Mexico, which is INSANE. :rocks:

Anddd Yeah, UCSD is a really good school IMO. Not only is San Diego a bigger city, but UCSD as a whole is its own little city. When I went down there to tour the school, I loved it too! I tihnk I just liek SB a bit more because I actually know people who already live in Santa Barbara... so.. I Duno. but I guess that doesn't really matter because I will make my own friends if I go down to SD. mm so cal. so nice so nice.

Like I said above, college at UCSB was the best 4 year VACATION I've ever had Ride a skateboard barefoot to class, play ultimate frisbee for intermural sports, run on the beach, surf. OK, maybe not much surfing, but at least paddling in the water.
Sun is NOT out all the time. Usually Sept and Oct are teh really sunny months. When the interior valleys heat up in the summer, it sucks in the fog.
