Will leathernet sport seat look the same as the leather sport seat?

In order to save some money, I am thinking about just order the sport package only (no premium nor leather). Will the leathernet sport seat look the same as the one came with the premium/leather sport seat? Please let me know your opinion about the pro and con of my decision. Thanks.

330i/Sport Package/Jet Black/6-Speed Stick/Beige/Polar Wood/ MSRP=38xxx Vs MSRP (+Premium)=40xxx.

Well, it depends how observant you are. The texture, feel, stitching, and smell are different between the two. Personally for me, I would get a 325 with the leatherette and in a 330 I would go for the leather as it is the higher/more expensive model. Either one are great. The leatherette will obviously wear better and will be easier to maintain.

leathernet is not the same as leather. In fact...i dunno what it is. Is it leather or is it a net? haha....j/k....leatherette feels similar to leather. But I have to warn you that it does stain. When you sweat, there will be white spots and if you wear colored pants, the color will transfer onto the seat (happened to my friend and she still cannot get it out). So choose a dark color if you can.

BTW, why are you being charged MSRP for your car (if you order)? Ususally we get deals like $1000-1500 above invoice (even non-ED cars). And Premium above MSRP??? WTF? Change dealer man. The salesman is screwing you. Unless you are buying a M5....there's no way anybody would pay a premium.

tell ur dealer to fuk off because obviously he's trying to screw you and tell you to get their cars on the lot. Ask him to order a car for you at $1000-1200 over invoice...otherwise...go somewhere else. He's definitely screwing you

The MSRP is just the price reference point. I have not started any negotiation yet. Most of the dealers that I have talked to in Atlanta, they all quoted me $1000 less MSRP. Any one getting a good deal in Atlanta, Georgia? Thanks.

I believe he means +the premium package which does cost a couple grand.

Back to the original post. Get premium with the 330. The resale will be better as most people who are willing to spend the extra cash on the 330 also want leather, power seats, and bluetooth. You may also regret not getting premium in a couple of years or even months. Just imagine a friend getting into your bimmer and saying "wow, all that money and it doesn't even have leather seats."

Yes, you all are right. I am convinced now to get the premium and sport package and try to offset the cost by doing a better job in negotiate the price. Can any one in Atlanta, GA recommend me a dealer or sales person to get me the best price? Thanks.

This is the combo I got

330i SG with Sport and heated seats only. Got the price down to 37,600 which is somewhere in the 1000 above invoice range...in terms of leather...yeah... i miss it a bit...but not a big deal...the sport seats are the same...in terms of my friends...they cannot tell its not leather...leatherette also holds up better...had a 325cic before and the drivers seat got destoyed after 3 years...had a a4 with leathette before that...and it lasted 10 years and did not had a scrach on it...looked brand new...but both choices are good...in terms of depreciation...you are better off saving the 1600 for leather...if you plugin a car with/without leather into kbb or edmunds you only get a fraction of it back...somewhere like 600 dollars...

I am thinking of getting rid of this car after 3 years 50k miles anyways...and only taking a 15k (with leather its a 17k hit) hit on it or 420 a month...I think I wont have a problem getting 22-24 grand for this car in 3 years...what do you think?

I would reccomend Rob Collini at Global Imports. Tell him Chris Sears referred you. He was very eager to work with me and I got a great deal on my 325. Good luck.

Thumbs up

Dude, if you can afford leather, get it. You won't regret it. Quality leather upholstery is the shiznit, (and BMW's leather work is high quality), hence the extra cost.

Global offered me a deal @ $600 over invoice. Another E90 Member just purchased a 330 @ invoice. I didn't purchase there, but I did speak with a Mr. Kagan Scott, appeared like a nice guy who knew his product.

FYI, their doc fee is $399.00

I have had my sport package leatherette 330 for several days now. Everyone has wanted to check out my car and not one could tell it wasn't real leather......and I have some pretty car fanatical friends. Its all about what you want to spend.

I would have to do one of two things
1) Make him walk
2) Show him the real reason you buy a BMW, and then afterwards ask him if I wasted my money.

I wonder if leatherette does not breathe as well as leather does. If that be the case it would make your bare skin sweat against the seat more easily.

Skip the Leather.. Everyone who rides in our car talks about how great the leather is.. Not one person has thought it was leatherette. Much easier to maintain as well. Spend your money on the Sport Package where you will really appreciate it. We got a much better deal at Athens BMW than any of the quotes we got from the metro dealers. Talk to Allan Dean, and tell him Carguy1965 sent you.. You will get ea great deal. We got a great price and the foor mats and exhaust tips thrown in free..

if you can't tell between leather and leatherette..
hmmmmmmm. I'll stop right there.

My girl has leatherette. Great cheaper alternatives to leather.
Its like an Audi. Great car, but its not bmw.

The leatherette seems very high quality to me. I could see skipping on it to save a few bucks and being happy with that decision. Personally, the real stuff is worth the extra; it's fantastic. Be sure to check them both out in person before making a decision.

And leather holds it's value more that other options do. You'll get a lot of your leather investment back when you sell.
