Coil replacement issue
This seems so basic, but..
I had a coil fail on me about three months ago. #6 cylinder. Got a Bosch replacement from ECS, popped it in, and all was good. #4 began acting up recently so I decided to replace all five remaining coils and be done with it. Got five more from ECS, which arrived tonight, popped them in and the car would not start. All were fully seated. Wiring looms were properly attached and clipped in. Everything was buttoned up correctly. This isn't rocket science. I pulled the new coil from cylinder one and popped in the old #1 unit (I marked them as I took them out). Car started but ran extremely extremely poorly, not surprisingly. Changed #2 and things were slightly better. Went ahead and put all the old coils back in and the car is running fine, for now. I'm sure #4 will give me trouble in a day or two. So, any thoughts? To my mind, the wiring connections didn't seem to clip in quite as nicely as the old ones did, for what it's worth. The new coil clips felt slightly flimsy to me. I don't remember that being an issue on the coil I got a while back. Just want to make sure I'm not overlooking something obvious. |

Never could get them to work but ECS, to their credit, took them back. Of course, I'm out the shipping charges but what are you gonna do?
Which still left me with the failing #4 coil so I got one from the dealer for the low low price of $103. $111, out the door. Damn. But it worked. |
