Just quietly, I hear drop-in filters make more power than a tune!

Well the manufacturer claims "up to 14HP" but colour me sceptical. I've never seen a before and after dyno that was not done by the company trying to sell it to us...

I'm just looking for a little bit better air flow...

$60 for 14hp isn't bad at all

+1

What I'm surprised about is that there are no reports around where people have actually measured the pressure drop in the intake system. Looks like I might have to do it myself!

There is very little point swapping out different bits in the hope that it will make a difference - much cheaper and more effective to find the bottlenecks first and then fix just them.

Thinking option 2 may be too loud and drone? I am just wanting a bit throatier & exotic sound.
IMHO those 2 exhausts are apples and oranges. I have the AA exhaust and I love it, it's easily the single most complimented mod on my car. It's easily comparable to the volume of a lot of V8's. I have driven the C63 and jumped straight back into my car and thought mine was louder! Btw, I have AR dp's.

In terms of volume, I would say the AA is an 8.5/10 and the PE is 6.0/10. Everyone says they can hear me minutes away and I didn't believe it until I spoke to someone on the phone and they said they could here me each time I would go WOT - and this was when I was a few minutes away! Also, I tend to set off a few sensitive car alarms from time to time - usually in undercover car spaces. The cold starts make the walls shake.

Both exhausts will drone. I think the AA is about 6.5/10 and the PE is 3.0/10. I recently drove to Sydney and back and I survived, but if you do a lot of highway driving the AA probably isn't for you, unless you like the music loud. Like any mod, you get used to it so i find the drone non-existent unless I'm hungover or have a headache, which isn't very often. But if you sit in the car for the first time you will notice the drone straight away and probably wonder why I did such a mod until I plant my foot or play with my paddle shifters.

I find the advantages outweigh the disadvantages and if there's ever a time to have a loud exhaust it's now whilst I'm relatively young. I know I'll want something a lot more civilised and sleeper in the future but for now I don't mind the volume from this straight 6 twin turbo!

How long (for those who have ordered via USPS) does it take for a United/Tischer shipment to get to Australia? Some stuff I've ordered via USPS can take a month (non-car, fit-in-envelope stuff) from postage date!

I got my 313 Wheels from Tischer. USPS Priority> Aussie Post.

10 days from credit card payment to delivery at my door.

Can't complain about that.

No problem. There is definitely drone contrary to what they say. I've only heard the PE on the N52 and it sounds amazing, you really can't beat OEM sometimes.

I don't know what makes it louder - I'm sure someone around here does - but I do know that it sounds even better on the N55 than the N54...

On an N55 this may not make much difference?

The PE sounds louder because the resonator in the midpipes is cut out and it utilises a different muffler. The N55 will always sound louder than the N54 because it doesn't have any secondary cats in the midpipes.

It will sound maybe 10-20% more aggressive. I'm sure whichever setup you get you will wish it's louder after you get used to it anyway. It's a lot like adding power. I'd like to eventually replace my midpipes but I set off enough car alarms as it is! And I wouldn't like to my neighbours either

My order from getbmwparts arrived at my door, in great packaging, about 10 days after I was charged. Highly recommend. In fact, I will be buying more from them very soon!

Did you have to send them copies of your credit card and id? I tried to process an order and they needed copies of this and I wasn't keen.
