Got my runflats replaced.
Goodbye Bridgestone Potenza Runflats, Hello Yokohama tires. The road feel difference is substantial. It's like a whole new car, when I run over bumps I feel alittle nudge, opposed to the entire car recieving a electric jolt. The great part is that for the price for the 4 Yokohama tires, you could probably only purchase two bridgestone potenzas. After going through the change I doubt I will ever buy runflats ever again.
PS - Initially I requested Pirelli tires, but since they had to backorder them I just purchased the Yokohamas which were sitting in the warehouse of the tire/wheel shop. |

That ad doesn't mention the E90; will it fit? Did you also get the jack and wrench kit for the E46?

Will Roadside Assistance still be able to help you out if you don't have the runflats that comes with most BMW's?

No if you are thinking about the normal routine for a flat. Yes if you think that being towed to a BMW Center is a good solution for a flat. Further, if you get stuck on a highway where ONLY franchise tow is allowed, RA cannot help you and you probably won´t get a flatbed. But you will get a bill from the franchise towing company.

I think rf is the wave of the future if not already. The other car manufacturers can figure that they save money with only 4 tires and no jack etc, save weight and can advertise a bigger trunk - they'll all be in.
Hopefully, the tires will get better and better.

The problem with runflats is the ride quality, though I must say wasn't too bad in the 330iA I drove.
But, the major consideration for me is that I live in a weather prone area that has more than a dry season. Thus, when getting the sport package you only get the summer only tires. So, like with my E46, I have to get either winter or all season tires. That's where the problem comes in. RF's in 18" size in all season is very very limited as is true winter tires. So, we get a limited choice on tires and I think that sucks as BMW forces us into a situation. The tires that are available are expensive in RF. I will be switching to regular all season Pirelli's, which I run now on my E46, or some Michelin all season. Since not every E90 comes with all seasons, isn't a donut spare avaiable? And, what about the space in the trunk if you have RF's? Is there still a space in the trunk for the donut spare? I think RF's will get better over time as manufacturers will calibrate their susupensions to compensate. But, at this point, I am not a fan. BMW doesn't seem to acknowledge the need for their sports package models to drive in all weather. I hate that. They need to offer more and better tire choices. If you live in a weather area and you get the sport package, you have to get either all season tires or snow tires as your sport BMW is not equipped with tires to allow you to drive with any safety.
