Yay for CSL's, but they're getting common. Hard to argue with the price though.

Haha Jamie, Kris isn't up to date with the world of tyres. I would take a Kumho KU36 over his Conti 3's anytime when it comes to performance. But of course Conti 3's are comfort tyres so they serve different purpose.
Kris, 275 will fit easily with a et60. Also, you can get -2.1 camber on your rear wheel to help fit wider tyres. Now for anyone contemplating this wheel, let me warn you that it will rub. I have a 9 inch rear wheel with et45 (same as this wheel) which means I am about 6-7mm further inwards that this wheel. I could not fit 245/40R18 without rubbing, and the only thing that fitted was 225/40R18. Granted, a non R-compound would have fitted as they are not as square. Anyway have a look at these two threads and make your own decision. Btw, Kris thinks my wheels are ugly. What do you guys think? http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showthread.php?t=18140 http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showt...t=13413&page=2 (last post) |

I like em Wayne! The 225 on the 9 would've been a squeeze though!

Disagree on Kumho, a budget tyre made in Korea. Sorry but I dont associate quality with Korea. Ill describe Falken 452 as dangerous, had them on my S3. I got rid of them in about 3 days.
Wayne, yep not a fan of those wheels. Owner of the AW 135 says it doesnt rub? |

Kris, do yourself a favour and do some research on Kumho tyres. Not the cheapie low end stuff, but their high end tyres. They are great tyres. For example, serious track guys like Enzothemaddog and SKC from tex are saying Kumho V70a are some of the best semi-slicks out there. Don't make a judgement on things until you know more about it!

I've done PLENTY of research on them Wayne, when I considered their Ecsta. Certainly alot of reviews I've read comparing them to the PS2 and similar max summer performance/ultra performance state they aren't in the same league. Tireracks survey also suggests the same thing
No, i havent researched track tyres, but ive no reason to. We arent talking about track tyres anyway.. |

He probably thinks it doesn't rub because he hasn't had it under hard load. It's a lot more obvious on my car because it is lowered so it doesn't take much to get it to the fender. I have read others with 9.5 inch rear and et45 have said that it rubs under load. shouldn't be too bad though if you don't do much hard driving.

Kris, if you are ever after a semi-slick, try the Kumho V70a as mentioned. Here is a test by probably the most authoritive German car mag, and the Kumho came out on top over the likes of Pilot Sports Cup, Yoko A048, Toyo R888 etc. No mean feat! I will try it as my next set. They had no stock when I needed it unfortunately. http://www.autosphere.com.au/HomeFra...fault.asp&Type=

Another issue with the Falken 452's ... they're bloody noisy. Lot's of road rumble, most noticeable at ~40km/hr and again at ~80km/hr. Suggests there's a harmonic frequency for this tread pattern.

I have to say I agree with you guys on the Kumho but heavily disagree on the Falken Fk 452's. My friend has them on his GTI and they are not even as good as the Conti 2's that came with the car. I doubt they would then be better then Conti 3's.
I am not saying they are a bad tyre but they are not in the same league as the more expensive High performance street tyres. |

You are right, I did put 225 at the rear. So when you say 225 is a squeeze with 9 inch, you mean it is a stretch? If so, no not really. Not with this particular semi-slick anyway as it is completely square. 225 actually fits perfectly on 9 inch with this tyre and 245 actually sticks out of the rims!

no probs with mine, except with that one time through Reefton Spur... FYI Kris: I've got 19 x 8.5 all round - did not go the 9.5 rears because of the +22 offset (M3) |

Kris, if you like the look of the CSL's why don't you consider the Breyton GTS-R which are a perfect fit for the 135i.
