Can't register 2010 vehicle in BMW USA.com

Just got back from the dealer. Signed all of the paper work. They're prepping the car in the next town as I write this and I'll be picking it up at 5pm. Looks like I'm the first 2010 delivery in the US!

Also, just so everyone knows (who is picking up a car over the next 2 weeks), they have a software update that needs to be done in a week or two. The dealers have not yet received the update so you'll have to bring the car in to get it done. She asked me if I wanted to wait to take delivery... silly question. It will say SERVICE NOW for a couple of weeks until the update is released.

From what I understood, the cars all come to the US in a "transportation mode" which is replaced with the US software upon arrival. I don't think they have the 2010 software yet.

She gave me a copy of the dealer notification but I left it there. I'll take it with me when I pick the car up and scan it for you guys.

My CA just called me to talk about locking in rates. I'm going to go in and finalize the paperwork around the 10th. Interesting about the needed software update. Hopefully, since i'm getting my car on the 29th, the software update will be out by then and will be applied to my car. Good to know. I'll definitely ask my CA about that.

I think they're doing 3.9%. We're all getting really good deals on the cars, the rates are out of their control.

So, I decided to lease, due to all the issues with these cars. I don't want to put a lot of money into it and also want to be able to walk away in 3 years. Got the lease deal paperwork and I'm not real happy with the money factor. I'm thinking about calling LeaseCompare.com and seeing what they'll quote me. Someone from LeaseCompare posted their rates here at the beginning of September and they were lower than what the dealer is quoting me.

BMW's quote isn't terrible, I just think I can get a better deal than that.

230 is actually a pretty decent money factor... BMWs typically lease very well because of the high residuals. I decided to lease for the same reason - if the car ends up being trouble I can just throw the keys back in 3 years. I was very candid about it with my CA.

Rollin' by the dealer this AM on my way to work, saw a car carrier truck pulling in - my car was sitting on the bottom row, all the way at the back...first one off!

UPDATE: Just heard from the dealer - picking the car up today after work! Woot!!

3.9% on 2010 at Kuni and, I assume, Rasmussen. Paid for mine last Friday and it was just completed at the factory yesterday! 9 more days until departure for Munich!!
