Two threads with multiple people having turbo failures, with a few a 33k. Fact is, it's not rare.

Maybe we should check elsewhere? Oh look, on the front page of the 1Series section of GetBMWParts.com it's replacement turbos on discount, before any other part.

http://www.trademotion.com/partlocat...egoryID=132126

Funny, I don't see other engine parts like cam shafts on that first page.

Wrong again cupcake, the N52 does not have direct injection. You might want to do a do a little bit of fact checking before you spout your nonsense.
First, let me say my bad on the DI. I had simply forgotten the N52 didn't get DI.
I had a serious brain fart. There's a difference between not knowing and forgetting.
So don't get too excited.

Your "fact check" shows you to cherry pick some posts.
You can cherry pick and post about turbo failures, but it's not common, not at all.
I read your thread links, and clearly there is NOTHING there to show any high level of, not even modest levels of turbo failure as you allude to.
Reread my post again, cupcake, and note that I wrote that early turbo's had waste gate issues, AGAIN, that have been taken care of and fixed.
Where in those 2 threads that you link do you see a lot of turbo failure to support to your point?
I don't see/read that at all.

Your link to a parts supplier is evidence for what?
Oh, yeah, they sell replacement parts. And, if one is looking for replacement parts for a turbo, then it's obvious one would go to a parts seller to look for those parts. What does that have to do with your suggestion that BMW turbo's are prone to failure?
Again, nothing.

Regarding the rest of my post, it's far from nonsense.

NO further comment on the HPFP issue?
Have you since learned that it's been fixed?

It's ok. If I can admit where I'm wrong, so can you. Yet, I sense your arrogance won't allow you to admit it.

BTW, you may try not coming on so early and so strong with an attitude.
Correcting me is fine, but writing what you did and saying I post nonsense, shows you to be an ass.
I didn't come at you in that manner, not at all.

If you want a discussion, we can have one.
If you just want to be insulting and derogatory, then perhaps you should go play by yourself until you grow up.

You seem to be missing the point, so I will try to make it very simple.

Turbos, like BMW cooling systems, are wear items that must be replaced. Some fail early(as indicated by the thread links), and others fail later. Regardless, most will need to be replaced before 100k.

Sure, BMW might have fixed the HPFP. But there are many people who purchased '08s and continue to have the problem. Many who have had it more than once. One of my all time favorite threads, people having HPFP failure on the loaner car while their car was in for HPFP repair:
http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=388125

DI, aside potentially from the system found in the BRZ/FR-S, will have carbon buildup. This costs money to clean. And at dealership levels of work, sometimes engine failure.
http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showt...6#post12336006

By "other turbo problems" I was referring to boost leaks and such. They happen, and they cost yet more money still.

The OP, by switching to a E90 328i, is eliminating every single one of these problems and costs. Regardless of anything else, he will have a more reliable car. It's just that simple.

Sorry to hear about the bad luck on the 135i....I don't blame you for giving that up.

Did you consider a pre-owned 2012 328i? They have lots of these around now with 2000-8000 miles. Almost new.
I guess you don't like the turbo engines though.....but those new 3-series are pretty slick. And the 2012 would be much faster and more fuel efficient than the 2011. But.....enjoy your car none the less.
