I'm going to redeem airline miles for my ED trip, too.

If you do something like that, you'll likely come out ahead considering the 7% discount, but as mentioned before it's really about the experience.

The only way one could really accrue substantial savings through ED would be if they could get the car for ED invoice.

On the 135, I was able to negotiate off of ED invoice and the savings paid for 5 full days in Europe for my wife and I with money left over. First trip to Europe and first ED... I'm hooked!

Think of it this way, you can pay the same amount and pick up the car at your local dealer OR you can take delivery in Germany and be a tourist for a few days for the same amount (or less). The catch is that you'll have to wait about a month and a half to see the car again. Maybe longer if you opt for the Performance Center re-delivery.
