2011 128i AMBIENT LIGHTING NOT WORKING
New member with a recently purchased 2011 128i. Love the car so far. Great looking and really solid handling. My first BMW and I look forward to many great miles in it and also learning from this forum.
A print out from the dealer I purchased it from shows I have the Premium Package, which includes ambient lighting. It was not on driving at night recently. I have searched the internet and looked at the owners manual, but I can't find out it if may be turned down low or off. Would appreciate any comments or advice from fellow forum members. Thanks. ambient lights
If you are not getting the interior lights as you open a door, they might be deactivated. If you press the button to turn on the center light above the rear view mirror (not the reading lamps), you can manually turn them on/off. If the lights now work, manually turn the lamp off, then open a door to see if the interior lights are actuated by opening the door.
I turn off the interior lights by design - when the light is on, depress and hold the button for a few seconds. That defeats the door activation. Hope this helps! |

Thanks. But I have the ambient lighting option, which provides a series of lights around the doors and cabin with a "glow" at night when you drive. I am not sure if mine is not working or turned low or off.

Certainly not this, which may be what OP meant. That was only for E92 and E93

At least the OP knows there is supposed to be some sort of ambient lighting as part of his Premium Package.
Sadly, no Premium Package on my current 2011 135i, so no ambient lighting for me.

Mine also has that lighting package according the VIN site. All I have is that pair of orange lights surrounding the overhead lights (near the rear view mirror). I wonder if ambient lighting refers to the slowed dimming of the interior lights when the last door is closed?

I have a 2011 128i (Montego Blue also) with Options Code 563 Light package and the Premium package. Mine is a Vert and has no ambient light option that I'm aware of (mood style lighting).
