Let's Install the New Style Wheel Logo Roundels

BMW has a new style wheel logo Roundel. The new style is cleaner and a better fit than the old style logos.

Old vs. New:

To install the new center caps, you can either remove the wheels and push the caps out from the back, or you can use the suction cup method. If you have the wheels off, it is a good time to switch the Roundels out, but if you do not have the wheels off, it is a lot of work for a simple mod. I used the suction cup method.

2 Hook Style Suction Cups ($1.99 from Target):

Apply the suction cup to the stock Roundel:

Then pull straight out:

Then install the new Roundel (the wheels even appear to have changed :wink

If you use this DIY, please post a thank you.

If these will be for 09's and up then we would be removing one of the unique trademarks of the Y 1 of the 1.

That said I want the new roundels. They look better.

Performed Andy's DIY earlier this evening, a simple prying device assisted in making the magic sucker-thing happen. I submit a modified tongue depressor, reduce the edge thickness so as to resemble a blade, pull the sucker, insert the tongue depressor into the gap thus created, boink, roundel out. The first roundel took 10 minutes, which, included brain-farting the idea, modifying the tongue depressor, doing the deed, the last roundel extraction/install took 20 seconds. It works. The 'tool' got a bit banged-up...

Thanks Andy.

Why not just remove each wheel and push the centre cap out from behind? While your there you can give the whole alloy a good clean. Something you can never do properly with the wheel on.

I just used a small prying pick to remove the oem's which were a little loose anyway. I couldn't believe how much better the new roundels looked. Sometimes it's the little things that can make all the difference.

Because here in the states we don't get average 6 weeks of holiday time every year.

The half day it takes to do it your way is better spent :drinking:

<< Is guilty of removing wheels to wash from the back side. It works soooo much better and more thoroughly than cutting up your knuckles on the brake shield, reaching through the spokes, on a much less thorough cleaning job.

Btw, I love how those roundels do dress up my wheels too.

After...the replacement roundels retain their position far better than the stock items as well.

Check out the E-Z Detail Brush for cleaning the inside of your wheels. Great for removing brake dust, just takes a few seconds per wheel.

Here is one of many vendors selling the E-Z Detail Brush.

It is well worth the money.
