How about a white Toyota prius with light grey interior? Solve all of your issues.. lol.
But really, mine is black on black and I live in Dallas.. 100-104 daily lately, I drive like an asshole daily with the max AC on, still average 22-23mpg.. what's the problem?

I just did a nice drive on a country road with the AC blasting, 96 degrees outside. I definitely wasn't wanting for performance and it got up past 100 just fine. Turn your AC back on.

I have silver/ black leather interior CONVERTIBLE and I'll even run the AC with the top down, especially with the sun overhead on a hot day. It is so much fun to drive aimlessly around the back roads of New England. Guilt free. If a car has an AC button, push it!

Congrats on saving 10 gallons of gas a year to avoid using the AC.

Why even buy a performance car if you are scrounging for MPG pennies? Windows down is also very inefficient by the way.

pretty sure you would die in texas if you didn't use AC.

My car gets hot to the point that I can't touch the steering wheel. I normally just turn on my car, step out for a minute, then get back in

I really wanted to not provide any input here. This is the most stupid thread I have seen yet. Black on black car in CA and complaining about the heat but refusing to use the AC. Really? That's why AC was invented.

Has anyone noticed that with black on black even with the AC on isn't enough? It seems that the ac can't remove the hot air fast enough when it's 100 degrees out and on top of that the black leather seats have been in the sun for 8 hours and you're sitting on it which is keeping it hot and it's just constantly heating your body even if the air is cooled off in the car. I find myself driving my pickup truck to work some days because I just don't want to deal with the immense uncomfortable heat leaving work, especially when you're in dress pants and a shirt and not a t-shirt and shorts.

Sometimes I'll just have the windows open because I feel it doesn't even make a difference at that point.

This thread makes no sense. Sit in a hot black car to save maybe 1 or 2MPG, give me a break.

Yea- it's pretty bad. The AC definitely isn't up to the task of 100 degree days. IMO, the only thing you can do with this is throw on some good UV blocking tint. This should pick up the slack.

Ditto!! +2, Use a sunshade when parked outside, turn on A/C and Black/black is no diff. then any other color after a few minutes of driving. This thread should be titled - 'A/C off = uncomfortably hot'.

90+ temps here in Charlotte, high humidity, black interior and my AC will freeze my arse off. As previous poster said use a sunshade when parked outside.

Oh, and I do have a tint on the windows

Auto AC with it set to 69 degrees is how I handle the heat. Although my silver should be a lot cooler than your jet black I do have the black leatherette and they are uncomfortably hot after an hour or 2 in the Florida sun. After 10 minutes of driving it's fine.

I do not recommend running the AC for longer than a few minutes before the car is moving, I once did that and by the time we started moving I had the Engine warning for overheating, it was only the first stage but I never want to see that alert again and I don't have turbos...

My wife drives a white/tan cloth Chevy Volt here in Houston where we are seeing 100*F days every day. She has an app on her iPhone that enables a 10 minute pre condition startup that cools the car before she walks out of the office every afternoon. She has a daily 30 mile roundtrip and never uses gas - the car had to do a fuel burn last week mandated by the ECU to remind the engine it is still under the hood. And at the stop light Grand Prix she beats everything away from the lights with 100% torque and traction control, from 0 mph until 30 mph.

OTOH, on arrival at my outside parking spot, I immediately start the white exterior/black leather 328i loaner and it cools within 5 minutes.

Thanks for the nuclear-level, all-out flame-broiled roast-of-a-initiation guys. Can you blame a noob who has their first black car for asking? needless thread that should be destroyed. lesson learned.

I have Carbon Blk on Blk and I set the car to vent at 11am and 3pm during the day. Its helpful. However a Sunshade and Possibly a ca cover are in my future.

I'm guessing you have to have the satnav and idrive or whatever it is to use that feature?
