BMW 128i N51 upgrade.
This looks interesting. Time for a bump in power.

Like stated above, N51 already has the 3 stage manifold! Get a tune and headers!

I too was thinking about adding the AA exhaust headers but the disclaimer below is alarming.
NOTE: THE FACTORY EXHAUST CATALYSTS ARE REMOVED IN THE PROCESS, MAKING THIS SOLUTION RECOMMENDED FOR OFF-ROAD OR RACING APPLICATION ONLY. NOTE: -HEADER SYSTEM IS DESIGNED FOR OFF ROAD USE AND RACING APPLICATION ONLY - WILL HAVE **CEL** WITHOUT ACTIVE AUTOWERKE SOFTWARE UPGRADE. I have the 3 stage AA tune already but I don't understand this. Is it really for off road racing only? Will it remove one set of cats but leave the secondary cats and is this good enough to pass emissions testing in Massachusetts? I asked AA and their response was this which is not clear to me. "Yes the secondary cats will be in place and with our software we can show the primary o2s ready. This will allowo you to pass any all emissions tests except for the sniffer." Not sure if I should do this as this car is my daily year around driver.

You'll both have much better luck posting in the 128i specific section.
All of your questions have been asked multiple times by multiple people and as the 128i section is rather small, most of us don't feel like typing out the answers multiple times. Search around the section and you will find your answers. Not trying to be a dick, just trying to help!

Because of federal emission laws, any modification to the factory emissions system is techncally not road legal. State to state emissions laws are different. With the AA software you won't have a check engine light. Nothing alarming here, normal stuff when upgrading to headers.
